What came first??? ARC or AXIS???

Which locking mechanism was produced first???

I have a bet with a friend that is contingent on this data...

did arc copy axis or vice-versa???

they both seem very similar in design. :confused:

Which one is "better"? or are they both GOOD?
 
The Benchmade Axis was first by a long shot, all the locks you see of a similar design were "inspired" by the popularity of the original BM710.
 
Bryguy, Don't know about the timeline, but I do own both, benchmade is a wonderful knife, very good lock, but........the arc lock on all my SOGs seems much smoother IMO. I have several BMs and really like them, but the locks seem a little harder to release sometimes, and they don't seem quite as smooth as the SOGs arc lock.
Of course everyone has their own favorites :D .
