What cameras (digital?) do you folks use to take those nice pictures of knives I see here at BF?

Kodak DC-265 takes all the pictures we do in house here... but it's what happens after the picture is taken that makes them look good...

I use an Olympus D340R digital. Easy to use, and does a good job.

I also use an Olympus D340R and have been very happy with the results given the relatively low price of the camera. You can see some pictures taken with it here if interested.

I get my best results by putting the knife down directly on a flat-bed scanner with a cloth over it. There's a bit more too it than that - experiment.

I use an Olympus D400Z. Meets all my needs plus it came with a floppy disk adapter which makes downloading images fast and easy. Batteries seem to last forever too.

Sony Handycam that I wired into my AITech TV card! My computer is pretty ghetto isn't it? Whats up with these USB things?

Comerade Chang,

Nothing wrong with ghetto tech stuff! I used an old Commodore 64 until it bit the big one about 8 years ago. A 64K 8-bit processor running at 2 MHz was just fine for word processing and calculations. It had a pseudo-Windows program called Magic Desk that had a word processor, spreadsheet and database. I put alot of term papers, theses and resumes through that little thing. It was so simple to use. It would have been way too slow for the web, though.

Oh yeah, cameras... Well, I haven't got one of those digital jobs yet, or a scanner. But I'm looking into the possibilities.

I am very very pleased with my Toshiba PDR-M5 (around $825).

IMHO, it can't be beat for the price. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=131983&a=973402&p=13338263&Sequence=1

Sony Mavica FD83. Best thing about it is the floppy disk, no adapters req'd, can be downloaded to any pc, and the camera can dupe a floppy also

Using a shallow white box, like a shirt box, over a GOOD flatbed scanner makes some really neat effects. Like Mr. Mattis said, experiment!

I have been using an Olympus 450-D (D-450?) for about 6 months now and am very pleased with it. It is intermediate price ($450 - $500)and does everything I want.

When I need a film camera I resort to my old Olympus OM-1 or OM-2.
