What can a Wicked Edge do that a KME can't?

Yes, there are a million comparisons between the Wicked Edge and the Edge Pro, but I haven't seen a single one on the Wicked Edge vs. KME (and yes, I have looked). I greatly prefer the clamp system to having to hold the blade down, so the EP is out of consideration for me, but other than sharpening both sides at once, what is the $200+ advantage of the Wicked Edge over the KME? It's not just initial cost either, KME can use any 4"x1" stones, which can be found cheap as opposed to the $65+ proprietary stones for the WE.

Anyone want to tell me what I'm missing here? Preferably without tearing me a new one for asking a question that can only be answered with opinion. :p

Hey Solidorange, give them a call at KME and ask just that question. I realize they are pro their equipment, but when I called them with questions, I got the impression that they were honest and will not lead you wrong about any limitations with their equipment. They are a bunch of bow hunters and designed the KME for broadheads, and then re-designed a model for knives. Super nice people. Their warranty is if you break it, they will replace it. All made in the USA.

There are quite a few rod guided systems. For the money I prefer the GATCO. I looked at the Wicked Edge and asked the same question. I ask that question about most of my purchases.

The Wicked Edge has double stones so replacing one requires twice the cost of other systems.

It has a bigger footprint on the workbench and in storage.

The start up cost is 6 to 8 times as much as my GATCO.

Will it sharpen any better than any of the other systems? I do not see how it can. They all use similar stones or diamonds.

It seems to me like the Wicked Edge is different to be different. The differences between the various systems is not in the sharpening it is in the other features and in the price.

Going lower than a 15° angle was important to me. The GATCO can go down to 11°.

Good Luck
