I recently purchased a Camillus Cuda Maxx 7.0 with D-2 Steel. When I first received the knife it looked perfect and I really like this knife. After approx. 1 week, I noticed a small spot on the blade, with 5 smaller spots. The spots look black like a fungus or something, the largest one is less than 1/8 of an inch. In the sunshine, it appears to be rust. The surface of the blade is smooth, you can't feel any pitting or anything. When I first got my knife, I immediately put Tuf Glide on it. I don't use my knife for anything and didn't get anything on the blade that would hurt it. When I handle my blade, I wipe it off and keep it oiled and clean. I have tried WD 40 and Tri-Flow in addition to the Tuf Glide. I have read that D-2 isn't as resistant to stains and rust, but I am very disappointed in how quickly a stain showed up and that I can't get it off. I assume the blade strength has not been compromised, but would welcome your opinions. If anybody has any ideas on how to remove the stain, I would greatly appreciate it along with any other advise you might have.

I used Simichrome to remove a stain from a stainless steel kitchen knife. It worked great. I don't know how well Simichrome works on D2 but I'm sure somebody here does....

I suppose that just about any metal polish(Flitz, MetalGlo) can remove the stains. I used some MetalGlo to take some slight stains off my D2 Safari Skinner without any problems. :D

Good Luck

A non-abrasive polish such as Flitz and then wax the blade with something like Ren Wax.

The flitz will hopefull remove the stain, and the ren wax will help prevent further stains. You can also try some steel wool.
