I used this technique myself with a Tyvek suite. :D

NEVER MIX CLEANERS !!! The worst , which can be deadly, is to mix ammonia and chorine cleaners ....If it was just chlorine bleach you are probably allergic to it . Use a solution of borax and water.

This is vitally important. If you use bleach, you must not use anything with ammonia in it which includes most common glass cleaners.

My guess is that you're mixing the bleach solution to strong.

Never mix anything acid with chlorine bleaches. It releases chlorine gas. If you smoke it turns to phosgene in your lungs which is the Mustard Gas used in WW1 trenches.

Possibly Backwoods means that the cleaners he is using already contain bleach and he is not mixing chemicals himself?

Do they sell KOH (potassium hydroxide) solution where you live ? That's what my mother brings back from the lab where she works and it does wonders.

Mind you this is a dangerous chemical, you should be wearing rubber gloves at all times (!) when handling it. It will burn your skin/tissue just like acids do, it just takes longer to start going (and burns last longer than those made by acids). Use gloves and you'll be fine. It isn't corrosive, it doesn't smell all that bad, and what's most important, it doesn't evaporate and make you feel nauseus the way chlorine-based chemicals such as bleach do. Just make sure it doesn't come in contact with your skin - if that happens rinse the area of contact with water thoroughly immediately (before the burning feeling starts).

Judy dear, before you post again could you put another coat of polish on those brown Oxfords in the corner. Thanks Love!:D

Sure thing, Sweetness, Love of my Life. Are you sure you don't want me to put 2 coats of polish on? It would be the highlight of my day. You know there is absolutely NOTHING I would not do for you.

love and kisses forever and ever,

your lovie dovie pooh bear

Holy shite! What the hell do you people do to your bathrooms??? A decent commercial spray cleaner works fine for most places. Just toss out the scrubber afterwards . . . makes me ill that some people actually reuse these things . . . if you hire a maid service, not only will they probably arrive with soiled rags and sponges, but they might use bathroom scrubbers in your kitchen.

KOH ,yes along with NaOH is great for cleaning drains ,nothing else. I use BonAmi cleanser [mild abrasive, soap, nonchlorine bleach] or borax .Efficient and safe !! Spay cleaners and anything else sprayed usually puts half of it where you want and the other half in your lungs ,convenient but unsafe !! I'm amused the many times people tell me they're not exposed to chemicals - as they spray stuff !!!

But seriously folks, Lysol Basin Tub and Ttile Cleaner is one of my favorite cleaners. That, bowl cleaner and Windex will about do it. And for you young , just on your own guys, you can clean once a week or wait four weeks and go over it four times in one day to get it clean.

Thanks guys, ive used stright bleach on the tile and grout let it sit 5 min and went back into the br and almost died. I was about to :barf: . I think after that i made myself sensitive to bleach , so now instead of waiting for 3 weeks before i clean it ill just do it once a week so it isnt so bad. Thanks for all the replys.

Dirty bathrooms and the use of dangerous chemicals are the reason we have wives.

And because sheep can't cook.

As for the cleaner, you can mix dawn dishwashing liquid, water and a very small amount of bleach - a very low concentration will do the trick. Chlorox sells an all purpose cleaner called "Anywhere Hard Surface Daily Santizing Spray", consisting of water and only 0.0095% sodium hyperchlorite. Point being that a very very low concentration - so low you can't smell it - will disinfect if thats what you are after.

Its funny that you mentioend this (in lieu on the very first post on this thread) - over here we use chlorate/chlorite based stuff for cleaning drains. Perhaps that's because we're on the other side of the globe :D

The secret ingredient in Dawn which makes it so effective against greese is... Ammonia. Refer to the many previous comments in this thread about the dangers of mixing bleach and ammonia.

The secret ingredient in Windex is... Ammonia! And many toilet bowl cleaners and tile cleaners contain bleach. This does not mean that you can't use both, but it just means you should be careful. If you apply tile cleaner to the tile and decide to clean the mirror with Windex while the tile cleaner soaks, STOP! It's also true that you don't have to be paranoid about this. The amount of potentially harmful fumes evoked when you mix the two products depends on how much you mix. A tiny bit of overlap isn't gonna be a problem. But, it's still best for your health to be aware of and avoid mixing Ammonia and Bleach.

It's also always a good idea to open the window and turn on the bathroom fan while you clean.
