Man, that's sure a pretty knife! It's a Model #12-11 Brassback 'Smithsonian Bowie'. The brass parrying strip on the blade spine was discontinued in late 1982, so it's at least that old. Based on the finer scalloping on the end cap and collar, I would say it's no older than early 1970's. Does it have a sharpening stone, and if so could you describe it or post a pic of the text side? That would help. As to value, I haven't seen one sell in a while, so you may want to check eBay's completed listings under the description given above. Lastly, if you decide to sell it, it's one of two RMK models I've never owned, and as such I'd like a chance to make an offer. Hope that helps...
