My old friend Ben at the bank gave me $100 and I have to spend it on a knife...

I call this the value category. The word budget, I hate. Two names in the sub $100 category which come up a lot around here are Civivi and Cold Steel. There are others. This forum is a hub for high end knives, but I thought consolidating photos, experiences, opinions and reviews for the sub $100 category would be useful. Lately, I acquired Civivi Praxis, Mini Praxis and Exone knives and a Cold Steel Tuff Lite. There is a lot of enjoyment for the buck in these blades.

Your thoughts...

You kinda left this wide open, as far as size, purpose, etc. . When I think of a great knife, not too big or small in my opinion, for about $100.00, there’s no denying the Cold Steel American Lawman. It won’t win any beauty contests, but it’s a solid knife that will stand up to most tasks.

I really like the Kizer drop bear 7 inch. Which I am pretty sure you can get for under a hundred. (Just looked. On sale for $70 or $90 depending if you want 1095 or AEBL.)

You get two belt options. That kizer swivel thing and a tech lock. And a cool bow drill divot.

You get 2 decent knife blades and a few other tools that just might save the day
Or if you want a real crazy good experience try an Ahti knife, depending on the model might be able to get away with 2
You can also get a AUS10A demko shark cub

Cold Steel and Civivi are solid from a functional standpoint, and brands like Vosteed, CJRB, and Sixleaf are similar to Civivi. But in my opinion, Twosun offers the most impressive value in this bracket. You can easily get a titanium framelock with carbon fiber inserts and hardened steel lock inserts, CNC milled clip, M390 blade, and crisp action for under $100. They go up against knives double or triple the price. Some of their models have some rough spots or areas that aren't as well thought out, but a few of them really hit the mark.

Folding:
Spyderco Dragonfly in different steel choices. Small knife that is very capable. The more I use it the more I like it.
Buck Saunter is a great slipjoint. The 055 is great.

Fixed:
Buck as already mentioned
Demko Armiger 4
Terava 110 or 140

An Okapi, a Douk Douk, A Mora, and a Green River could all find their way to your home for less than a full invitation from Mr. Franklin. So could a Cold Steel, or a Buck, or any combination of the above.

You could also get a bunch of machetes, axes, and other cool stuff from Baryonyx Knife Co.

Cold steel voyager for normal people use and some decent beating.

Cold steel sr1 lite if you beat the living crap out of your knife for some reason.

Cold steel recon 1 if you like better steel and catch a deal. They can be found for a hundo or less if you look or buy a used one.

Find a used Demko ad20.5 if you want something smaller and slim.

Some 20.5 models are on sale for $25 less than the benjamin at the center for knives.

Vero engineering have a kickstarter on a sub $100 knife. I like the look of that one a lot.

Wixco ragnar is also one of the best sub $100 folders ive tried
