My grandfather passed away less than a year ago, my mother and her boyfriend sold his boat for my grandmother and when they were cleaning it up and such they took out all his gear. I went fishing this morning and I went by their house after and was talking to them and mentioned I was going back tomorrow morning, my mother's boyfriend told me he had all of my grandfathers old gear and stuff. So he gave it to me, but my knowledge of fishing is not very substantial so I was hoping you guys could tell me about what I had.

A lot of these he made himself, I know the difference between a fly and stuff, just want maybe some more details and advice. If you want some closer up shots of specific ones or better shots of the groups just let me know whether its for curiosity or to help me.

Thanks!
Nathan

The last pic is Rooster Tails or variations there of. Generally used for smaller pan fish (bream etc.) or even trout. On a light weight rod and reel with lighter line 4lb-6lb.

Second to last is mostly jigs with one white spinner bait. Those jigs can be used along with a plastic trailer (worm/frog etc.) or what I have always called pig ie. Pig & Jig they come in a jar in the sporting goods section. The jigs and spinner bait are normally used for Bass or larger game fish. On a med/heavy rod with heavier line 10lb-15lb or so.

Third to last are spinner baits and buzz baits. same as above.

The rest are al lures and it would take waaaaay to long to explain each one.

Thanks, the pond I usually fish at is filled with bass, catfish, and herring (which are illegal to take in Massachusetts) so for fish like that you would recommend the second to last and the similar ones to that?

Also any information you can tell me about lures or good information resources you can refer me to would be great, if not to just know what I have at least to further my knowledge. I've always gone fishing but honestly I kind of taught myself and learned as I went. Now that I have all this stuff I should probably figure out what's what. I'm sure different colors/weight etc all depend on the fish/time of day/weather/etc.

Thanks again.

Lots of good crankbaits , there. Some newer ones and some older models. I really like those Rebel Deep Wee R's. Looks like your set up for bass fishing.
