What can you Multi-Toolers tell me about this?

A friend of mine was short cash to get his G/F's Xmas present and sorta begged me to buy this off him for 30 dollars. I didn't really want it but he said it was 70 at Walmart and it is in good shape. (barely used) Has a sheath too.
I looked on the forum but I don't know much about Multi-tools and I know Gerber isn't the most highly regarded brand so, is this thing worth 30 bucks?

Looks like the legend 800. Upon checking the site, it MSRPs for about 136 bucks. However, 70ish at Walmart sounds about right.

For 30 dollars, I think it's a fine tool. I'm not much of a fan of Gerber as they tend to be more about novel approaches to the multi rather than a tried and true design. However, the Legend seems to be one of their more straight forward and practical designs. I'm not sure about build quality, but based on the tool size, I would say 30 dollars is very fair.

My main gripe with Gerber is that they tend to make things a little too chunky for my tastes.

I bought one of these for a guy at work that was going to Iraq. I think I paid about 80.00 for it at the time. So far it has seen three tours and still holding up well. He brings it back to me every so often to get the knife blade sharpened.

i lugged around one of those for a while, it packs a hell of a punch and i think i payed about 72.00 for mine at the time

Gerber Legend Multi-Plier 800 at $30???!
Whoa!
How much to get the tungsten carbide steel wire cutter inserts replaced?

I believe you can rotate those a couple of times. They haven't been yet.
Thanks everybody! I feel pretty good about helping my friend with his Xmas present.

Excellent tool (IMO). I carried one for several years before jumping on the Leatherman bandwagon. By the way, the cutters do rotate, although I never wore down the first sides despite doing a fair amount of cutting. I'd go back to using it but I've since downsized all together and gone with the Gerber Suspension. Not really a "heavy duty" multi, but as I get along in years, my projects tend to get less heavy duty as well:)
