I can tell you that yours is dated 1986 so it's a first year production. I can also tell you that I have one and like it a lot! Congratulations on your new knife and a great BIL.
It was the knife I took to college. I felt like it was an extremely versatile ...and it was. Hiking chores, cutting up chicken wings or just goofing around with it , it handled everything I threw at it. My father had a Buckmaster....I saw this knife as the baby brother.
