What do you guys know about the structure and workings of the major knife manufacturers? In that how do you apply to work for them? What type of jobs do they offer people? And what type of a background do the look at when hiring someone?

I've read a lot about Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. but have rarely seen info on how these corporations run. Are any knife companies traded publicly? Do they employ a wide variety of people (lawyers, designers, factory workers) or do they have a core group of employess and then outsource most of their other needs.

As always any info is much appreciated.

I would guess that without specific industry experience, you're more liekly to get a non knife related task, like shipping, phones, etc.

I'd bet it is more menial tasks than "all glory", ya know?

Purchase the Spyderco book. Its more about the buisness part of knives than the knives themselves.
