What can you tell me about my 112?

I have this Buck 112, which I got in the late 80'ies or early 90'ies.

I have been checking out the 112 resurce sticky thread, but I have come up short.

It is stamped: BUCK 112 X, USA.

I am curious to know the steeltype. Is it 440C or 420HC?

The knife is a true gem to me! My top choice for whittling and fine woodwork,

Vilkommen to the Buck knife forum. The 112 resource sticky thread will help you with knives made before 1986. Starting in 1986 the knives have a date code symbol.
The "X" on your knife is the date code for 1990. You will find a separate sticky for date codes. Enjoy your knife.

Rasmus, welcome to the Buck Forum. I am soo glad you posted this as I think the same way too.
There are others who think there is something special about a flat grind. I've tried them both and thought the knife from the era you have cuts better. Different strokes for different folks. 425M is a good steel. DM

Thank you for your feedback.
Much appreciated!

This one just eats through wood, and has never as much as microchipped.

Ras, hor mor dur e dog? Doesn't surprise me. That echos my findings.
Also, gents did you notice the sheath has the 3X Buck on the snap and a 1990. I would consider this a good mark for the first of these. DM

Rasmus the brass on your 112 has a real nice pale patina . I like the different shades Buck brass will tone to. When I spread out all my 112's the difference in color and tone of the bolsters is striking. You have taken good care of your 112 and it shows.

Ah ok... :) I do read and understand Swedish.
However, I am fairly certain, that "Hor mor dur e dog" is the language of Mordor:cool:

It was a gift from my late Grandfather, so it is taken very good care of.
I do like to let my knives grow some patina, eventhough the brass om my 112 buffs up nicely, if a want itvtp shine. But yeah, I like that you can see that it is well used.

I was hoping you spoke some Swedish. As a lot of Europeans speak several languages. DM

Rereading it, I realise, that you likely meant to ask: How are you today. And I am good! Thank you.
Hur mor du i dag?
Or "Hvordan har du det i dag?" in danish.

Yes, I tried. Glad you made the connection. I'd try again but you'll have to correct the spelling... DM

Here's my 112. Also a gift except from my Dad. What does the c in 112c mean. I forgot when it was gifted.

It means your knife was manufactured in 1995. The nickel frame 112 was just coming out. Welcome to the Buck Forum. DM
