In 1980 my grandfather passed away and one of the things that i received was a schrade pocket knife. I have been getting into collecting pocket knives and i would like to know about his knife. on the master blade is writen schrade n.y. u.s.a.834. All blades are intact. what can i find out about this little gem of a knife? handle material? age? jigging?

Without seeing a photo, I would make an educated guess that it was mfg after 1972 and before 1980. The handles would be DuPont Delrin plastic. The steel would be 1095. The pocketing would be friendly. :)

More than likely a proud sheepsfoot blade, and SCHRADE written on the shield. ;) Value dependent on the condition (maybe 15-35 bucks). Not worth selling a keepsake like that, but a great knife to use.
