What can you tell me about this 110?

I recently snagged this knife from eBay. The seller posted some potato quality pictures with the listing so you could not tell exactly what it was but I hoped I might be getting a good deal on a Buck 110 Pro so I took a chance.

When I received it, it turns out it's definitely not the pro. I think it might be a Copper and Clad 110 with aluminium bolsters and liner and black Micarta handle. It's alot lighter than my other 110.

The only pictures I could find of a C&C 110 aluminium had a number laser engraved on the right side of the blade which this knife does not have.

Pictured above is the sheath that came with it. Not sure if that is correct or not but seems to be time period correct for the year it was made. It came with a box as well but the box is for a stock 110 and definitely not for this knife.

Yes, definitely not a pro model. It has a stamped tang and the pro models are etched on the opposite side with the steel type. I’d guess it’s a 420hc blade in aluminum frame. I think c&c did have one as such but it’s been awhile.

Any chance that is black paperstone? C&C had one that looks just like yours in black paperstone with aluminum that were not engraved with a number.

I never heard of paperstone, but this does look like highly polished Micarta. Here is a close up of it helps;

The only other one I know from C&C that had black Micarta and aluminum bolsters was one with a pocket clip as well, but I don't see any screw holes in your bolster for a pocket clip.

I'm looking at one of my Aluminum 110's. Ebony style slabs. Nothing like you are showing.
I do have another one with I do believe paper stone slabs.
Probably a build out.
If you don't want it...🙂

I saw that one as well, but yeah this one doesn't have screw holes. The reason I thought it might be C&C edition was because of this thread; 110/124 combo

I'm not sure if I like it or not. It looks sweet. I like Micarta and the blade is centered well, locks up better than my 154CPM 110. It looks like it was never used. But, it feels too light. When I pick it up my first reaction is that I picked up the wrong knife :D. And I'm worried that the aluminium won't stay shiny like nickel silver would.

It stays shiny, as shiny as aluminum ever gets. They're great in the pocket and the micarta holds up well.

Another two cents' worth:

What is the model number on the box?

The 2 aluminum framed C&C knives I have are both drop points..... I thought they all were.

The handle on one of mine appears to be the same as yours, tho it's red and an s30v blade.

I'd hang on to that if I were you.
It appears to be sorta rare.
I really like the ones I have.
Sure they are light.... But they still feel solid. That's a great combination in a folding knife.

I bet you would grow to appreciate it if you started using it.

I'd wager you would someday regret selling it.

Looks like the G10 on my SK Blades "The Gentleman".

I might be mistaken, but didn't Stephen of SK Blades have an aluminum frame with black G10 covers available for a little while? I don't recall what blade steel he ordered them with.

them.

Is that not G10?
Hmm I just assumed it's Micarta because it it's very light, and it's polished so smooth. All of my G10 knives are Spydercos and are rough texture and larger weave. I just never considered you could polish G10 like that but I guess why not.

I can't find alot of good pictures that I can zoom in but the ones I've seen of the Ultimate Hunter edition of the 110 which had black Micarta looked similar to my knife. The red Micarta in The Zieg's pictures also look to be a similar weave and texture to my knife only red.

The pictures of the 110 Pro which has G10 look like the weave is larger.

I'm still leaning towards Micarta but who knows I could be wrong. If I could figure out what model this is I could find out :)
