What can you tell me about this embellished hardware?

Hey guys, I was just curious what you could tell me about this fancy hardware on my small "jigged" Madagascar rosewood. It appears to have gone through some knurling process to give it that cool look. I've never seen it before on any other CRKs, what's the deal?

Edit: here is the confirmation that it was in fact done by crk:

It looks like someone put in a fair amount of effort to get the screws to look that way.

If you really want my opinion, I do not think it was worth the effort....but hopefully the owner loves it.

I think it may also offer a bt of "snag" that the OEM configuration was designed to eliminate.

Where did it come from ? I have seen jigged wood on Mnandis but I don't remember seing it on a Sebenza before. The chamfered/fluted screws is not somthing I have seen before either. I think it looks pretty good though. :)

So you don't think this was done by crk? It's super smooth, no snag at all. Hard to capture in pictures but the quality is top notch. The clip screw is also embellished.

I don't recall having seen anything like that from CRK, they do have embellished hard wear on sellect knives sold at trade shows though. They tend to be anodized and "prettied" in some way other than just machining. The work looks solid though, the jigged wood is espcially nice IMO. :)

I quite fancy it myself, although when I got it from the exchange a while back I honestly thought it was a factory embellishment. The quality is on par with crk stuff. It sure would be cool if this was a super rare sebe straight from the factory! :)

At any rate, here's the clip screw and the mirror polished inserts.

I'm glad you like it. It certainly does not look like an easy modification to pull off, but it's great from the standpoint that a guy could very simply replace the screws and return to stock if desired (except for the jigging). The jigging is something I do like (not that you should care).

I doubt any of it was done by CRK, but I suspect whoever did it knew exactly what they were after.

Thanks for sharing!

Actually, the jigging was done by crk. It says so on the box and BC. I think I'll give them a call next week to ask about the hardware. Fingers crossed it was done by them!

I'm at work right now so I can't take a picture of the box and card. I'll post one tonight

Wow, I learn something new every day! I never knew they jigged Sebenza inlays.

When was it born?

Thanks again.

That looks really nice !

Maybe not everybody's taste but I sure would like it on a couple of my Seb's.

I've never seen it on a Sebenza, just on the Mnandi - I really hope that they're occasionally doing it on the Seb's now and that you have a very rare and nice knife.
It'd be great to have another hard to find CRK in the mix for the collectors to chase :D

I found the pics from the original sale thread. Birth date of January 10, 2006. It appears that the hardware was done by crk based on how the post was written. I can't confirm until I speak with crk next week. Further searching leads me to believe that these are in fact rare, possibly only made in 2006 and 2008, and in low quantities? Maybe this was a good find!? :)

Id say it was a good find....anytime you can add something you like to your collecttion, it is a good find. Adding something that you did not even know existed? That is really cool!

Great looking knife, thanks for sharing and answering questions regarding it. Kudos on a fine knife.

The jigged madagascar rosewood was available form CRK on both the small and large classic Sebenzas. CRK has done decorated pivot pins on Mnandis so it's quite possible they did your decorated hardware. I've personally never seen it before though.

Those screws are legit, straight from CRK. I have a Mammoth Bark Mnandi that has them as well, I got it from a former employee that wanted them on his piece. Hope this helps a little :)

Great find and it looks great. It's nice to find something unique and especially so when it is accidental.
