10Cr13MoV, according to the standard naming convention.I know 8Cr13MoV is equivalent to AUS8. But, I was wondering... what Chinese steel is equivalent to AUS10? Does anyone know?
Thank you.
It is. The compositions of VG10 and AUS 10 are fairly similar. Thanks, for some reason I thought that was equivalent to VG10.

Add: in both cases they are "roughly" equivalent and not an exact match.
It is odd that you rarely see it used. They clearly have an abundance of it. It's one of the main components to most of the mid-grade damascus that comes out of China. Civivi alone produces crazy amounts of 9cr/10cr damascus. They must to have warehouses full of it. You would think it would get used for most of the Chinese kitchen knives that have saturated the market, but they seem to mostly be in VG-10.I think it goes by 10Cr15CoMoV from what I've seen, and yes it is an excellent alternative. Really wish manufacturers used it more often; it seems to offer a particularly good value.
