NOT white (natural) - too bland.
Mocha will (should) be warmer in the heat.
I'm partial to Khaki.

Unfortunately, Mocha and Natural are the only two colors available to me in this model of hat. I like khaki too.

I had a white one, and it really showed dirt. If your a clean persone, get that, if not, go for dark.

I'd go for the darker one. My brother has a white Tilley and it always looks dirty.

I just got a Tilley LTM6 in Khaki and was glad I opted for the slightly darker color. "Natural" just looked wrong to me.

You could always try dying it. I've had my tilley for more than 15 years, about 8 years ago I decided it should be a bit dark so I soaked it in really strong coffee. Just kept dunking it until it was the colour I wanted, if it fades or washes out you can always do it again.

Hi All-

For color comparison purposes:

MOCHA

NATURAL HEMP

Both should keep the sun off you pretty well...

I have a Tilley TH4 Hemp Hat in Mocha and I really like it. I'm in So Cal so I get heat but very little humidity. I know that there is no way I would be able to keep a Natural colored hat clean. I had mine with me 2 weeks ago in San Antonio, TX (hot and humid) and it worked well there.

Go for the Mocha, go for the mocha, that is a chic catching hat...a "babe" hat. Looks awsome on men and the natural color is just not what you'd want from dirt, the natural says "so-so" but the mocha means "go-go". :D

Well there ya have it!

:D

Discussion over.

Ok,
FWIW, IMO etc., etc.. First of all, from a scientific point of view, when it comes to colors, the 'darker', the 'hotter'.
Now, the statement that will ruffle the most feathers, there ain't nothin' that says 'babe' in any way, shape or form regarding a Tilley hat. If anything, they'll repel 'em. IMO, your better off going with an equally as effective, yet much more female friendly, Columbia or Nike hat. Not that those are the only two, but...
I must state that I'm not quite sure of the age bracket of 'babe' being discussed here, but I'm 35 and you now know where I stand...FWIW...
Have fun.

I'm already married.

NOthing is less sexy than having skin cancer removed from parts of your head and face (let alone anywere on your body.) That is why I am heading away from the whole baseball hat sort of thing. They may look nice, but when I have to be out in the sun for an extended period of time, they leave the back of my neck and my ears woefully unprotected.

Tilleys don't really look that bad. Come on now. It isn't like I'd be wandering into Bullwinkles with it on.

kampfjeger, I know you would be happy with that hat. Skin cancers such as on the head and neck are so common and it looks like it would protect you. As for the style of the hat it isn't commonly seen up here in the south, unless it's the beach or maybe the Masters Golf Tournament. We aren't sure where the south stops in Florida. All I meant is if the style of the hat reflects a combination of a Texas cowboy hat and a Aussie style flare about it and women see so many baseball hats here they would think you must be celebrity. Any clearer now?

Thanks Cindy. :) I appreciate your input. It's nice to get a woman's POV.

I believe that I'm gonna get the mocha colored one. I kinda wish that they had plain Khaki, but they don't. Anyway, I think that this might be the one for me.

Thanks everyone!

If anyone else has input or experience to add, I'd love to hear it.

Dave

I'm a Florida native ...... my head gets sweaty just thinking about a hemp hat. Sure you don't want to go the lightweight route? I have a lightweight Tilley and LOVE it. Great for kayaking, hiking, etc.

I had a t4 hemp natural before the wife stole it.

That's what I'd reccommend!

The Mocha is much nicer IMO than the natural. I love my Olive T3. I remember 5-6 years ago, the T3 was also offered in Navy, and a darker brown than mocha. I wish they'd bring back those colors as well.
