Its the main pic from this auction here on Bladeforums:

I am kicking myself in the head for waiting to buy this. The seller said it was a gray, not black. I can see that its not a solid black, but not a tanker gray and I haven't seen any other colors like it.

If anyone can answer this, thank you!! And if any Busse employee's see this, then can I special order this color on a custom knife?

It's Tanker Gray. Tanker Gray is pretty darn dark for a gray and the lighting may be adding to this effect. Look how dark the handle looks. That's supposed to be bright orange and black G-10. :)

This may help...

TOP- "Old style" Urban Gray
MIDDLE- Tanker Gray
BOTTON- "New Style" Urban Gray

Keep in mind I had an external flash on a dSLR bouncing light on these. The pic you posted was taken (I assume based on the file name) with an iPhone.

i just accidentally put 2 drops of scotch in my eyes instead of visine so i can't see $hit right now!!!:sorrow:

I would have guessed black. Good thing I didn't guess.

I am curious though...what's with the grooves? They serve some sort of functional purpose or purely aesthetic? I'd imagine dirt and debris is a PITA get out of them.

Thanks

They call it Corrugated Bevel Technology. They're supposed to reduce weight and friction as it cuts through stuff. Seems to work well, though the ridges make it difficult to put a satin finish on them, and therefore I don't think Busse offers that option on any of these. The grooves aren't small enough that it's difficult to dislodge anything that ends up getting stuck. Just run your finger or a brush or anything down the grooves.

I am happy and sad now... I liked the idea of having a gray that was darker than tanker but not black. It gave it a sinister appearance. Knives should always have an evil undertone when being viewed :) I am happy for not missing the opportunity to have won something rare.

I wonder if I can pay Skunk to be drunk wherever they are mixing the colors and have him dump some extra black into the tanker gray mix :)

I don't think the factory's ever offered any with a satin finish, but I have seen one or two after-purchase satin jobs; on this knife, satin looks amazing!

Let's put that to the test, shall we? :)

Over six hours in the hands of a landscape crew working on my out of control property...

Less than five minutes in the sink with a sponge...

Nope...no problem! ;) Took me longer to redo the edge. (BTW, this was an unscientific experiment on how well this Busse held up in the hands of a couple of guys who beat it like they stole it...or like someone...me...gave it to them to use and told them to go nutz!
