Hey all, I was wondering what combination of knives you guys like better. Should I get a benchmade bugout and a benchmade proper or do I go with an spyderco pm2 s110v and a manbug? Just want to find out which ones you guys would prefer. I dont want to spend more than 200 and I'm looking for one knife under 3 inches and the other can be whatever size. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

My combo.

I am finding that more and more I am leaning towards a folder such as the Bugout, Griptilian or a similar Spyderco and also carrying a smaller knife like a Spyderco Roadie, Ladybug SAK or small traditional (Case Texas Toothpick or Peanut). Lots of options.

I would highly recommend the Roadie though. Can usually find them for under $50 and it is smaller than a Proper.

My thoughs are: If you have Bugout why do you need proper?
Id use proper somewhere i don't want to take out military. You know what I'm saying?

This Bugout is already small enough no?

You gotta have Bugout, pm2 and proper so you can mix it up

I went with the Ladybug over the Manbug.
ZDP-189 in the British Green  . . . and I have several Para2s . . . can't live without a Para2 !

The Proper Does look great to me though. In canvas . . . natch'.

Victorinox compact, has multiple useful tools for daily life. Pair that up with any primary knife you want and you have a good backup knife and tools.

WETFUW

With that, voted for,the PM2 option nd would agree that a SAC would go better with it and keep you within budget. Othing wrong with the BM option though.

I'd like to know what range of tasks you carry out in your normal day and in what kind of setting. Then what is the worst or hardest usage situation you are preparing for. That would tell me a lot about what knives to recommend.
Personally I'm fine with just one knife, though I also carry a Victorinox Money Clip - a flattened alox Ambassador (think Classic with longer blade and scissors). Usually that knife is a Spyderco Baby Jess or a peanut of some sort.
Which knives are "right" depends on what you need/want to do and personal proclivities.

I do a modern folder (usually in the 3.5” range) and a Case Trapper. So in your case, I’d do PM2 and the Proper

I generally am not a real hard user on my knives. Most of the time I'm just cutting up boxes and bags. I want something under 3 inches because then I can carry it at my college. And the other knife I will use for cutting boxes at my work. Thanks to all of you that replied so far.im thinking of going with a sak as my sub 3 inch knife.

Get a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 and a Sharpmaker. You'll be covered and will be able to maintain your edge until you decide on another blade to add to the collection. Being able to sharpen your knives is worth far more than anything else in my opinion.

Planned usage is pretty important, but the PM2 is an awesome knife for many tasks. I’m liking the PM2 and SAK combo suggestions.

I originally went out to buy a BM bugout and ended up buying a PM2 instead. Bugout is still a great knife, but when I held the PM2 I knew deep down it was the knife for me.

Of those two options, I like the Spydercos better.

This is what is get though:
Spyderco PM2 and whatever multi tool or Swiss Army knife or multi-tool.

I like a folder and a tiny little Victorinox Manager. The little guy gives you a spare or precision blade as well as a nice little tool set. The ballpoint pen, combo tool, scissors and toothpick are SO handy!

I figured out that I'm gonna go with a pm2 but I was wondering what sak I should get to pair with the pm2. Anybody have any suggestions for which sak I should get ?
