The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service oughta be interested in this one. They walk around with a copy of the Lacey Act in their back pocket and misinterpret it regularly. Just ask Gibson Guitar.
Gec uses two types of Ebony. Most commonly they use Macassar Ebony. They usually market this as just "Ebony". On some runs of knives they use Gabon Ebony. They usually specify this as "Gabon Ebony". Macassar Ebony generally comes from Indonesia or Southeast Asia. Gabon Ebony generally comes from West Africa. GEC probably buys their Ebonies from a U.S. vendor who sells blanks for knife handles or sometimes for making pen bodies.
