Ok so the other week I took apart my Code 4 and scrubbed off the surface rust and gave it a good oil bath. Reassembled it, torqued all the screws, got rid of the sand and dirt from the beach daily carry. And all was dandy until the other day.

Now the blade wont lock into place as it use to. Seems its not going far enough or something is blocking the spine lock from locking and engaging the blade groove.

Anyone had this and know how to fix it?

Are you sure you put the spring in the correct way and/or it's not broken? Also check to make sure there's no debris where the lock engages.

I Had this issue with My mini Ak-47 from cold steel and i ended up fixing it. Because I don't have a code 4 I don't know the exact construction but I think the tri-ad lock is generally the same as the others. Is the hole In the locking arm an elongated shape or is it circular? If it is elongated(Looks like an oval), like all tri-ads I've seen, your issue is that the looking arm is sitting too far forward and it is catching on the stop pin which isn't allowing it to fall into place which both locks up your knife and keeps it closed. The way I fixed this was by putting a piece of rubber band in the space between the front of the elongated hole and the pin that goes through the handle that the locking arm pivots on. This holds the locking arm back away from the stop pin which should solve your problems.

Cheers,
Spencer

I tightened it down just enough to keep the blade from having play. No more.

Also I thought it was debris as well but I hit the joints with a q-tip and it seems clean. Does have fuzz but clean for he most part. As for the spring, it does lock and spring it just doesn't lock unless you make it a point to help it get into it's locking system.

I kinda don't want to disassemble it again, was a paid to get back together and keep the washers in place.

loosen the body screws a little, and see if the blade locks into place. If it does, tighten gradually starting from the furthest screw.

Took a side off and everything seems to be in place as it should be. Spring is fine, washers are good. It was working fine again for the first few opening then it seems to have worked it's way back into not locking

Any chance we could gewt a photo of the knife with the scale off? Maybe someone will see something and be able to help you.

Got it fixed. Found some small debris on the blade spine/lock system and some rust on the main action bar for the lock hinge.

Appreciate the help guys.
