What did I find? Spyderco P.I.G. Police and 2 screw clip Worker

I found these at a local gun show and thought they were unique and cool.

One I believe to be a pre 1983 Worker due to the two screws, font on the clip, and lack of "evolution set" numbering. It has been sharpened but is in good shape, other than a blunted tip.

The other is a PIG (Pride Integrity Guts) Police. Am I right in thinking less than 500 made? It seems to be in very good shape, almost unused and not sharpened, except for a slightly bent clip and a chipped tip.

These reportedly came from an estate sale of a detective who was moving to California.

Can anyone give me an idea on value? PM if you'd rather.

We made one run of the Worker with 2 screw clips - 1200 pcs. The next run was 3 screw with one thicker scale. We made 2 runs of "PIG's" total of 2400 pcs including plain, serrated and left hand models.

Very cool! Pieces of Spyderco history. Thanks for the info!

I made a video on the Police PIG today:

Awesome finds. I have one of each. Value very much fluctuates on older, rarer Spydercos. I've seen the 2 screw worker sell for under 200 all the way to over 700, and the PIG police run between 150 and 400. Sometimes that's based in condition, but usually it's whether demand is up or down. Right now everyone is looking for Cruwear and Rex45 shamans, so prices are low for older collectibles. I managed to find a 2 screw ATS-34 military for under 100 bucks. Enjoy those knives. You may never own the pair at the same time again.

Nice find. The PIG marked Police is one that has eluded me so far.

I had one of the raw aluminum but I gave it away because it scratched up so bad. I carried other stuff in my knife pocket back then. Not anymore.
I was young and dumb. I regret giving it up now.

When I received my first uncoated aluminum Police I thought it might have been a fake. I won an auction on the bay for two knives, a slab side and another with bevelled edges. I didn't know back then that they had ever done one in aluminum, and when I got it in hand I was like "What the hell?" If I remember right, those two were my second and third C07s. I've picked up a few more since then.

Hi Jack,

That's quite a collection. I've been trying to pull together a bunch of Police models for a display in the store. there sure a lot of them. I've got a Yellow Horse, Earthling, etc.

Thanks. The bad part is, as near as I can figure that is only about a third of the variations. If you can wait until the next Seconds Sale I'll loan you my collection for your display.

Thanx for the offer, but "loan" won't work as the store will own the display. I'll use my knives so it isn't a problem.

I suspected as much. Dad turned 89 today, so I may have a few more years to enjoy them before I'm ready to donate them permanently. Still, the offer stands.
