What did I find?

I went out to the gun show today, looking for a butterfly knife. I did find one, so at least I did not go home empty handed. I am not quite sure what it is, sense there are no markings on it. Sense it looks so much like a Philippine made knife, that must be what it is. The handle inserts look to be made out of a horn material, dercorated with what looks to be lead. The body is brass, the pins are copper, I think the latch is aluminum. The blade is steel to be sure. What do you think? www.BalisongKnife.comThanks, JohnR7

I've got one similar to that but with different handle inserts. Same blade style and all! My blade appears to be made from a file. They clean up real nice, if you know what I mean!

Did your lead work fall out like mine did?

Kind regards,

Some of the lead is missing. I was thinking about trying to replace what is missing. Also, whoever made it, cut one lead slot in the wrong place and did a rather interesting job of repairing his mistake.

I don't know how safe it would be to try to buff it out. It's pretty fragle, and it could destroy it, to try and buff it. It looks like it would be a easy knife to make. Thanks, JohnR7

judging from the blade shape it shoudl be one of those odl school GI bringbacks.. according to urban legend made from jeep leaf springs.. but then again it is only from experience and what i read.
