What did I just buy?

I was thinking about bidding on that very same bali. Even though the seller said it was not rusty, it looked like sh*t.

I hope it turns out not to be for you. Wow, last time I checked the bid price today, it was around $70. Post some pics of it here when you get it--good luck!

Oh, and Rethink "W", I think Bush trusts the Feds more than he's been leading us to think

Looks like a BM239. Or maybe it's the BM139... I get model numbers mixed up sometimes.

It should still be a decent quality knife though right? Did I do okay with the price or did I mess up big time?

As for rethinking W, no chance. I don't trust the people counting the votes either. A computer is NON-PARTISAN, a human being is not. If dimples count as votes my english teachers thighs would throw the election. I would rather not have a president that won by recounting until he liked the outcome. Personally I thought "B" when I voted but what we are seeing now is typical political BS. Netiher one is very good but I would rather go with the guy who doesn't ignore military votes and who realizes that you can't just "interpret" what a stray mark or dimple means.

Well, it being a BM it can't be too bad. I had one along the lines of that and didn't know what I had so I got rid of it for next to nothing a while back, it would have been quite nice with a bit of a tightening. Sorry, I am no use on the pricing of that one though.
I'm still thinking W and don't intend to quit.

You are talking past and I am talking present day. If you want to talk history, why wasn't Clinton's draft dodging important? But it's not currently important now because it is past. Now a large county in Florida has decided to stop recounting and Gore wants to FORCE them to continue recounting. Hmmm... A government official FORCING the American people? Isn't Gore the one criticizing Bush for trying to FORCE them to stop recounting. Sounds like a couple of hipocrites to me.

Hey y'all, get back on topic. This guy has a question about a knife and you turn it into a freakin political battle ground. Not cool. A small comment at the end of an on topic post is okay, but this is getting kinda stupid.

Thinking W.

It was a political statement. Vietnam was complete bs. WWII is a completely (and necessary) different story.

It is their duty to produce a fair and accurate count. Nobody seems to mention the 19,000 uncounted votes that started this whole thing. Gore is not forcing anyone, the poll canvasing staff are obligated by law. The recount has not be done over and over as the rep-spinsters led you to think. Speaking of which, Bush has signed a law in Texas that madates the second vote recount be mandatorily done by hand, not by the *NON-PARTISAN* machine. No one seems to mention this either.

I can go on and on as to why I think Gore is the better candidate. He is no angel though, but Bush W. is just a big boob. My $0.02.

What are you talking about WWII? George W Bush served during the Vietnam war. SO if the Vietnam war is BS, then why is his enlistment an issue?

As for the so called 19000 uncounted votes, they were counted and found to be erroneous, not correctly voted, etc. Its not like they were just ignored. The recount was done at least twice by machine and in some counties they are working on their fourth recount. As for a fair and accurate count, who is to say what is fair? Or what is accurate. Evidentally the 2 recounts that were done by machine were not considered accurate in Florida, but 1 count in any other state is. Fair? Is it fair that 78 chads were found under one little ladys seat? I'm not saying she punched them out but maybe after the ballots were handled so many times, these pre-punched chads got loose and fell out. The more times you handle them the worse they're going to get, just like a dollar bill.

Let's just agree to disagree here. I'm not refering to WWII or Vietnam, both candidates served. And you're not entirely right about the recounts. But let's just end it here while no blood has been drawn yet

Yes, lets agree to disagree. As for drawing blood, that is too late, I somehow managed to grab the blade and handle at the same time and put a pretty good knick in my finger. Still, I haven't gotten a definate answer on the knife. Still awaiting information.

>> As for a fair and accurate count, who is to say what is fair? Or what is accurate.

From what I understand, in each county it's up to the desecration of a 3 member commission and a majority rule to determine what is a vote and what is not a vote. It's then up to the court system once the vote is certifed, to decide if they made their determination in accordace with the law.

According to Federal Law, you have to decide before the vote is taken, what system you are going to use, to count the votes. You can not make any changes, after the vote has been taken. Both parties, must approve of the process before the vote is taken. The only appeal they have after the vote is taken, is if the votes were counted in accordance with the way it was predetermined to do it. Thanks, JohnR7

The knife looks like a 139 and the retail price on it new would be around $100. But it's not in production right now, so the price would be determined by whatever people are willing to pay for it. I do not think it being "slightly used" would have much effect on the price, and there is no reason to believe it's not in good shape. In the "old days" before we had user feedbacks, if we got 5 good referances on someone, that was usually good enough. Thanks, JohnR7

Well, I have bad news. I have not been contacted by the seller and I am unable to contact her. When I click on the user name, Yahoo tells me that there is no such user. I guess I won the auction but lost it too. That sucks cause I was looking forward to the new addition to my small collection.

Mark

Hopefully she'll contact you or something, just wait a few days, then you can vent your anger.
