I just purchased a Busse Custom Shop Game Warden Fatty. I have wanted one for a long time, but this is very different than what I was expecting. Check out the handle on this knife. The handle material is beautiful, but there is an awful lot of it.

I am not sure what to think about it. I bought it sight unseen so I blame no one but myself if I end up not being happy. Just wondering what you all think?

Along with the thickness of the blade, that looks like one HELL of a hand filler, especially for a small blade like a Game Warden.

How's it feel in hand?

If it doesn't work out for you, there are probably some hogs out there who will love that thick handle.

Im not sure where you got it, but plzz PM me for Further instructions on how to get rid of it, id love to help you.

Not sure if I like it yet. It does fill the hand. It's exactly one inch thick. I think it's more that I'm not used to the thickness for such a small knife. It really doesn't look like anything I've ever seen or owned. If this knife ever deserved a name, this one does. Between the .27 thickness of Infi and the one inch grip thickness, I'm thinking of calling it "overkill"!

I almost bought that one when it was posted, but just not a fan of buying sight unseen. While the thickness of the handle would be welcomed, I don't care for the material.

It is pretty, though.

Very unusual to see a custom shop handle with tubes......I have solid pins and mosaic pins on customs and the finish around the tubes looks like the original owner or a previous owner changed the handle and didn't countersink the holes at the correct angle???

Definitely a FATTY Warden...Nice Score!

I think someone changed the handle on this one and also had some grinding fun.. the edge bevel looks way off and uneven, the grind near the tip looks way off in the second photo too.

Tubes aren't that unusual on custom shop Game Wardens and a bit of unevenness isn't unheard of. I bought a couple with buffalo horn in a 2006ish ganzaaa. It might not show up too well in these pics, but the scales on one side are significantly thicker than the other. And they're very thick, compared to every other GW that I have (which is a whole lot of GWs).

The ram's horn GW is not as uneven as it appears; the buffalo horn is more so. It's just the angle from which the pic was taken.

I dunno ... looks like original CS to me. the last pic is better.

Nice knife.

Sometimes sight unseen deals can go awry.

You did fine.

I'd bet it's factory. They've been known to make handles like that from time to time. I have a 0.170" thick Custom Shop Meaner (Tweener) with hand-shaped red/blue G10 that is an inch wide!  Nice score!

Uh, no, sorry. I have a number of INFI Busse Custom Shop pieces with flared tubes. They do NOT always use mosaic pins or solid pins. ;)

I think the handle is original. However, I might agree that the edge has been "tweaked".

I agree 100%. I was going to post that, glad I scrolled down. Buckeye burl has a very unique look to it. Those green spots give it away. Looks more like a stone to me. Nice handles. I know you got volunteers already, but if you are parting with her, look us up please.

The seller told me it is Buckeye Burl. It is very pretty.

I would really like a handle of that thickness on a regular thickness Game Warden or a Max Warden. I have a ZT Steel Heart Ergo bought on the aftermarket that has very thick green micarta hand-shaped slabs and it is great.

I'll agree with the others that it's factory, and with SpyderPhreak that the edge has been tweaked.. namely thinned out a bit.

I call mine my Broom Handle Game Warden. Love it! I have seen a few like this before and they are all essentially the same except scale material. I think they were technically a Fatty Warden with Magnum Scales.

This knife draws ooh's and ahhh's even from non-knife people.. usually "what the heck is that?"...

Here's mine.

Something like this?

The Shiv Warden from Blade 2007....thinner blade than most...or all GW's, yet on a .27" blank. Double edge. ;)
