What did you buy that Becker for...?

Interesting question came up in another post. What purpose did you buy a specific Becker model for? If a Becker model goes out of production, does another model take its place for the same purpose? I'll start...

I own a BK14. I bought it for a walking companion, a woods knife, an occasional garden knife, and a CCW. My hope is to upgrade my woods knife status to a BK16. I'd really like to try a BK9 for the whole batoning thing...

Not really a collector of knives, so they all had to have a purpose. Bought a 16 when I was searching the inter webs for a budget friendly quality fixed blade for backpacking. Fit the bill perfectly. Bought an 11 because I wanted a smaller blade for fishing, and was impressed by the Becker name and the people in this forum. Then had to get a 4 because I always liked the kukri shape, was needing a larger knife for camp, and, well, they were being discontinued, so had to jump on it. Now just waiting on the Becker folder for edc, and the bird and trout for my fishing excursions, to round out my collection...

Bought a Bk3 for my son before his First deployment to Iraq. My first Becker purchase. Heard nothing but good things from him about it so I went to looking at the line up. My first personal purchase was a 9. Then I found this forum. I haven't stopped. Bought my second 9 today. I needed 653lbs of Beckers and only had 652lbs

BK2s one for short heavy abuse stuff where sharpened pry bar usage comes in handy other designated critter cutter upper.
BK4, multi-tool, can do any thing a BK 9 can only bester. Grabbed one when out of production, wish I grabbed 2.
BK5, same reason as BK 5, only not as useful I find, but it can slice. No Thumb ramp so keeping it, its going to be useful during cow cutting season.
BK9s, multi-tool, its a knife but a knife that can chop and baton pretty good and do little things, not as good as a BK4 but its straight edge is why I take it more often on longer trips, easier for me to sharpen. High Saber Grind similar to the Esse Junglasythingy so really had no reason to get one of those as the 9 is more affordable. Thumb Ramp I can live with it on this one. Since I got some 9s I see no reason for a 7.

I just recently acquired a 16, 7, and 9 based completely on their reputation here on the Becker forum. When I see the performance per dollar posted by reputable members, it became apparent that they were worth the ticket price.

Now I’ve had them in hand a few weeks, I wonder why I waited so long.

The 16 fills a nice role as a belt companion and at the moment gets used the most. It’s done some kitchen duty and a few chores around the house. I used it to whittle a wok spatula and it did great. I have belt carried it a few times to compliment my folding pocket knife rotation.

The 9 is reserved at the moment to become a camping and adventure knife. I need to go camping soon. It’s just so dang good looking at the moment I honestly haven’t used it to attack wood yet at home for splitting.

The 7 I got because just because I wanted one. It’s nimble and will go with me on my next hog hunt in the forest. It’s light, nimble, and due to the nubbin may be a good option for dispatch duty. Plus the tip looks like it will penetrate well.

Haven’t ordered the other models (yet). Pretty sure I will soon.

I wanted a good tough Knife. I was so impressed I had to check out all I could . I thought one would stand alone as a favorite as it turned out l like everyone of them I own :D

Wanted a do-all blade for camp/kitchen, and piece of mind when camping without a gun. So I bought two 5s when they were cheap. When not camping, it lives in the vehicle. Great knife, though it's my only Becker.

Way to rub it in. I missed it by >-< this much. That was an insane deal. The 9 and that pestilence chopper... grrr (grumble grumble...)

Really though congrats on a super deal.
Thanks Ben. Right place at the right time for sure.

No seriously I've been looking at the choppers. And who couldnt use an extra 9. It will make a fine gift to an in law

Bought the BK11 as an edc fixed blade. Ive always carried folders and decided to try a small fixed blade. For a small knife it is a beast. It is sturdy and holds an edge well. The 11 caught my eye back when they were made by Camillus. I kept putting it off and when Camillus shut down I figured I was out of luck. Now all I can say is "thank you Kabar". I will always carry a folder in my pocket, but the BK11 is now my go to knife for most cutting tasks.
