I had a great weekend..it started Thursday Morning when a friend and I mounted up on my Tandem Bicycle and over the next four days rode from Lansing Mi. to St. Ignace Mi..which is over 300 miles away..it was great weather and a great time..riding a Tandem with two guys cranking away is as close to having wings as humans can get..at times we were maintaining a sustained speed of 25MPH ( not that fast but on 1" tires buddy its fast enough!!) our top speed for the week (downhill) was 51MPH..lots of sun and fun...

What did I do?

Not a f#%@ing thing.

And it was great.

I hiked ten miles on the Appalachian trail, in Worthington State Park in NJ. And then I recovered all weekend :)

I survived a direct hit from hurricane Frances. I got to live in an unlighted bunker eating canned food since early Saturday. My lab puppy did more damage to the house than the storm.

Dog Agility Trial, Topsfield, MA.

Wife ran the beast you see to the left, 1 first place for his class, out of like 4 dogs, other runs not so good. Got to see lots of friendly dogs and people.

I went to the Amana Colonies. It's an old German settlement in Iowa. They also have the Maytag plant that makes the Amana products. Nice little place. The homes are remind me of Germany. Lots of great wines and a custom knife maker or two. :)

And how on earth did you get online before me? Every member of my family from the W.P.B. area is living without electricity. I just now got my cable and internet back up.

I'm very happy to see that you made it out all right. I imagine your wife must have made it home safely. :) Has anyone heard from Stihl? We lost a couple of trees, but as long as they didn't fall on our house we're happy. :D The area where my brother lives is a disaster site. It took him quite a while to get into his neighborhood to see his place. Fortunately, his home was one of the few that was virtually untouched by the storm. What a relief! :) Now if we can just get the electricity back up for those poor people suffering without it. :(

Oh yeah, my grandmother (who chose to stay home alone for the storm) told my mother that it was a good thing she stayed. Apparently, rain was coming into her house due to some roof damage. Thank goodness she was there to clean it up off of her carpet. I'll never share her devotion to cleanliness. :D

What did we do this weekend? That's a good one Ren. :D

Celebrated the start of my 35th year on the planet and took my 5 month old son on his first hike out in Great Falls.

Otherwise just plenty of R&R.

Saturday - visited the hilltop village of Castelneu and had lunch there, then bought some local wine and honey.
Next day drove into Spain, spent the afternoon on the beach and had tapas in a bar.
Next day chilled on the camp site and packed the car.
Next day set off for Blighty, had breakfast in Carcassonne and bought a Laguiole at an Autoroute service area.

Yup, I was in the land of the cheese-eating surrender monkeys.

BTW our holiday was a week earlier than yours.

Andrew.

Reading all ya'lls posts, would it be abnormal to say I spent the weekend working and visiting relatives?

-There's a difference??

I worked bell to bell Saturday (0830-2000), church and homework Sunday, and wrenched on my car for ten hours Monday. Got the whole front brake system upgraded and put my Bilstein struts in, haven't yet gotten to the backs. 'Twas good times. :)

This weekend was actually a pretty busy one for me--normally mine are boring.

Friday night--poker all night, net loss: $2.00

Saturday--friend calls me from hospital to tell me her water broke (two weeks early). Spent the rest of the day getting updates and then spent part of the night watching her in intense pain.

Sunday--Went to visit the new baby, took a break from the hospital to have lunch, stop by the small semi-annual gun/knife show and then went back to take food to the new parents. Sunday night, poker all night again, this time a net gain of $100 to make up for the $2.00 loss on Friday night.

Monday--Took a friend out to lunch and some shopping and then went back to the hospital again.

I didn't get much sleep this weekend, but my friends (the new parents) got even less, so I can't complain. At least the baby came out healthy so that's all that matters at the moment. Unfortunately the mother's parents were in Vegas this weekend so they missed the birth of their first grandchild but I believe it was videotaped so they'll be able to watch it later.

Friday night: Went to a high school football game with a friend and then drove to his house in the mountains where our wives were waiting for us.

Saturday: Drove to Hillsville, VA, sat in traffic for 1.5 hours and then walked around the flea market (maybe the biggest in the world) for 6 hours. Man were my feet tired (not to mention the rest of me) !

Sunday: Slept in, got up and ate breakfast and then hung out with our friends for a few hours before driving home.

Monday: Not one thing. ;)
