I opened my old foot locker the other day and took this pic. I served in USMC from '87 to '93. Carried my modified KA-BAR on my belt and the gerber boot knife clipped to my Y-harness. The leatherman was purchased in '87 after boot camp and the other pocket knives rotated frequently.
That bayonet is an official war souvenir from Operation Just Cause with papers signed by the CO.
What kinda sharp stuff did ya'll carry?

I carried my Case slimline trapper in yellow delrin. 8 years in USAF as a electromechanical tech. Nuclear missiles, both a/c and silos. Needed nothing better and it was the best suited for my use. Still have it, although, it's been retired after many more years use in the civilian world. (Served 1971 thru 1978)

PS: Thanks for your service

I just started serving, therefore there are many others with more experience in what is good in the field, however, I like to carry a spyderco digicam military, specifically designed for military use, and with cool digicam g10 handles

I served in the USMC from 2007-2012. I carried a Case large 2 blade trapper when I wasn't on the flightline. On the flightline I normally emptied my pockets. I was an I level aviation mechanic, and the last thing I wanted was to leave FOD (foreign object debris) around an engine I was troubleshooting.

My upstairs neighbor carried this in Iraq. I think it rude to ask veterans about their service in war (being a complete and total civilian) so I don't even know what it is other than some sort of Benchmade. Saw some hard service.

I was in the Air Force for 8 years and I carried a benchmade just like that. I recieved it from an EOD buddy (they had way better gear). I carried it for about 6 years and it looked just as beat as that one. Thanks for that picture.

I had a Delica I carried (one of the older styles with the integrated plastic pocket clip) , that goes back to 93' or 94' though.

5-6 years US Cavalry. '99 - '05.

Buck 110 until I lost it.
SAK until I lost it.

M7 Bayonet when deployed.

USMC 88-92 0811 - Artillery
Carried a KaBar USMC fighting knife. I dyed the leather handle and sheath black...there is still sand in the sheath from Desert Storm....I like it that way.

USN 1977-1984 Boatswain Mate on USS Meyerkord FF1058. Carried a Buck 110. It was about the only knife back then. Kept it sharp. It served me well. Too big to carry now. Still have it.

Dang, depressing brother.

Ohh, I remember what model that is.

USMC 06-10
Carried my issued bayonet on my vest when in country.

Carried the cheapest folder I could in my pocket. They would get lost or stolen far too easily.

I carried this Case Folding Hunter for 24-years while in the U.S. Navy. I bought it at the Navy Exchange the day I graduated from Boot Camp (Aug 1965) at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL and retired it the day I retired from the Navy - 31 July 1989.

This is the sheath I made for it from a Navy leather briefcase from the ship I was on.

I carried it pretty much every day while in the Navy. When not carrying it in the sheath, I carried it in my sock against my right ankle.

I carried other knives along with the one pictured but the Folding Hunter was my primary knife at all times.

I have a case folding hunter like that nice knives. I carried a Buck 110 for awhile but it was too heavy. I switched to a Gerber folding sportsman. It was thinner and had the wood slabs. USMC 70-74

Served in the Australian Forces from 2003-2012 Have carried a fallkniven a1, spyderco military(standard issue) and some bayonets(m9 and m4) Pics coming when I figure out how.

I just carried my bayonet when downrange. Back in garrison in germany I carried an Italian auto I bought in Germany. I brought several back to the states. In Colorado working garrison mostly I bought a Kabar lockback with wooden grips made in japan ( model 1606) and carried it in a belt pouch with my .45, ammo pouch, radio holster, etc. I still have both and they are in fine shape despite being well over 30 years old.

Every vehicle had pioneer tools ( from M113 PC's to M151A1 quarter ton jeeps, deuce and a halfs, etc) so I didn't feel the need for much more than that. ( Axe, pick and shovel). We also had issued entrenching tools always with us out in the field and we could pretty much do anything with those.

I carry a caly 3.5, leek or delica in the shroud cutter pocket on my flight suit. Also a Vic pioneer.

I served in the Army from 1965-68. Back then there weren't any tactical knives and I didn't know squat about knives anyway. I usually carried a switchblade of one type or another. They were readily available and cheap. I served with the Ethiopia-US Mapping Mission. If you'd like to know more please have a look at our website... http://www.ethi-usmappingmission.com/ It's a good read and I think you'll enjoy it.
