Hello,

I am a total newbie here, and just getting started -- thanks for all the help and leraning I am getting here!

In the last 2 months, I purchased a Swisstool, a Leatherman Charge Ti, a Benchmade MiniGriptillian D2 (Cabelas') and a Spyderco Paramilitary. I do like the Spyderco the most.

However, with the much cheaper Benchmade, I got a manual, and a nice cloth bag. I didn't get anything with the Spyderco -- just the knife in a simple box. Is this normal?

Thanks for answering this very trivial and basic question :o :o

That sounds pretty normal. Some of my Spydies came in plastic bags inside the box, most didn't. Most of my Benchmades came with the nifty bags (at least the newer ones), some didn't. I never noticed the nifty cloth bags making the knives cut better, though...

Thanks everyone!

On a different topic, what other Spyderco would you guys recommend as an EDC to rotate with my Paramilitary?

Thanks again!

one of the manix family if your a fan of the larger knife for edc i love my manix. care it or the mini ever day and when me and my kids go for walks there are lots of wild dogs runinng lose i also carry a temperance as well :D the leaf blade shape makes it a great knife plus the flat grind makes slice and cut for longer than other grinds. If your looking for a more sheeppole knife the caly 3 is anther great knife can't go wrong with a syderco

Probably you need to tell us about your requerements. Do you need heavy duty or not? Blade length and shape, handle material. You will save a lot of cash if FRN or stainless steel handle is OK for you. Or you want gents knife for use in office?
There are many great Spydercos, and we will find what you need.
Good luck

Guarantee is printed on the box along with Spyderco contact info. I am not sure what else I would need, even if I were a first time buyer.

Thanks everyone for their comments and recommendations.

bh49: It has to be heavy duty, and blade slighty longer than the Parmilitary's. From my very limited experience, VG10 seems perfect as handle material. Thinking about the Manix or the Military.

Mini Manix will be good choice sa well. Lil Temperance is real tank, but it is discontinued and can take some time to find it. Just last week they were at SFO. If you are thinking about Military, now it good time to get CF BG42 Military, it is more expensive, but it is limited run and prices are good now. MSRP is about $280 and you can get it for $135-155.
Good luck

Well the most of us do;) Although…. a safety manual with a axe isn’t a bad idea.

But without a joke, a SAK/multitool manual is more about how to use every individual tool and how to maintenance it.

Understood. ;) A lot going on in a multitool, some of those little tools uses are not immediately obvious to everyone. Which of course, multitools are multi so that makes sense. Uni-tools, an instruction manual is usually not necessary for the common individual tools. :)
