hey guys.. Merry Christmas...

my family loves Christmas and it was indeed a good one.. i think we all managed to make out like champs this year...:o most imoportant of all though, everyone was happy..

i got:

- a few gift cards.
- a doz. custom wood arrows and JRE strop bat, both from my father in law.
- big bamboo cutting board.
- a new fedora, slippers and a flannel.

the best present of all was given to my wife and I, by my father in law's best friend Michael.. he is a very talented artist/painter and archer.. over the past few years, since he started shooting archery with us, he has become a really close family friend of ours..
he came by our house this past thursday and dropped off 2 amazing portraits he painted of our boys.. my wife and I were in awe... i'll have to get some pics up soon.. he also painted a cool portrait for my ather in law as well..

cheers.. Mike

I got a beautiful little knife, really quite spectacular.
Mark, the knife is awesome and I do not have enough good things to say about it.
The osage is beautiful and whatever you did to it really makes the grain stand out.
I ended up making a kydex neck sheath for it.
Thank you so much, it is one of my favorite knives and you are quite an exceptional maker.
Thanks again, Damian

Had a good time this Christmas ! I got a new bow - 2010 PSE Vendetta XL & all the equipment to set it up to shoot & a Condor Basic Bushcrafter 5" blade.

the house got a new "security" screen door at the frint to replace the original one, which one of the DPOs had cut a large X in the mesh that loved to snag shirts. new one looks much nicer and in the spring and fall i can leave the door open and get some air in the house.

other than that, i didn't get anything that i didn't buy. got a mew micra for my keys to replace the old worn one which will be going in for warranty because the scissors won't cut fine thread any more, and i also got a Spyderco Manix 2 from the orange sprint run, and a Landi PSK and Landi bushcrafter, plus some goodies from CountyComm.com. have a Glock frame waiting for me at the LGS to turn my Advantage Arms .22 kit into a dedicated gun without swapping out the slide on a 19.

i'll have to wait a while to get a new TV and a Roku. just not in the budget right now.

Sounds like you did ok fixer! I didn't know you were a Glock fan. The. 22 conversion kit is nice. Got one on the 30. I so want to trade it off for a Kimber. Never been too much on Glocks (spell checker just tried to make that block). Its just a personal thing for me. I know they are decent guns. I do like it more when it is a .22

had a stainless Kimber gov't model and could never get used to the thumb safety and the higher bore axis. i've had BHPs, but the ones i had all had some issue. one had a worn out muzzle bushing and one had monstrous adjustable sights. both had the old chicklet safety so i never got comfortable withthem as carry guns. tried Berettas, too fat. tried Sigs... umm, nite guns, but the price on the new ones is a little steep, and the 239 just didn't shoot well for me. Ruger P seriees is bulky and has a horrible trigger reset, Kahr has the same long reset and the slide stop is way too thick compared to the rest of the gun.

XDs shoot like modern BHPs, very nice, but i don't have one yet and there's no .22 conversions for them yet. and to me they either feel "too big" or "too small" S&W M&Ps feel ok, except the hinged trigger still feels odd to me, and still no .22 version. HK USPs are bulky and steeply priced.

sooo, i've got multiple Glocks. everyone makes a holster for it, parts are readily available from a number of sources, and there's more aftermarket parts than you really need. they've been around the block, tested in every way possible and mags are very reasonably priced.

i'm working on a pusher tool for the rear sights. have my own design, just need to get some tools and materials and i'll be producing them. need to make some room in the garage but should have them available in a few months.

spell check suggests Locks, Blocks, Clocks and Flocks... so i added it to the dictionary. problem solved. :D

My problem with the Glock is how it is built. The swell in the backstrap always pushes the muzzle up about 15 degrees when I draw and point. As a former patrol officer that worked alot of midnight shifts, this could be very hazardous to your health. And I was completely sold on the. 45 at the time. This was the early 90s and the .40 hadn't caught on yet. My personal favorite from my duty days was the Sig 220. Very accurate and lightweight.
My final tour of duty was in a small midwest town. I carried an issued model 19. I still lean towards revolvers for personal use.

welll, some people might say that "more training" is what's needed to address an issue like that.

while that wmay work for some, if you're transitioning only to that platform, i'd suggest checking out the new Gen 4 versions with the interchangeable backstrap, or there are a number of smiths who will reprofile the grip frame. i've seen some with flat backstraps. you can also get it retextured and have the finger groves modified or removed at the same time.

but i know what you mean. i've handled some guns that just did not point right for me, and nothing was going to change how they handled.

I got a Merkur Futur double edge safety razor for Christmas. I'm really enjoying shaving with it over the old Gillette Mach 3.
As for the Glock having that unnatural swell on the butt, I used sandpaper and sanded off most of the "Checkering" on my G23 until it felt like it pointed at a more natural angle. Easy and free mod that I'd do to any Glock I owned.
Happy 2011!

Sounds like everyone got great stuff. Someone gave us Disney! Seven of us had never been. So it was agreat way to finish out the holidays! I didn't use his name because I don't know if he would want me to but thanks seems inadequate. We had a great time.
