Had my Military (plain jane S30V satin blade with black G10) for a couple weeks now. I'm in love with this thing. Here in the past couple of days I've had opportunity to use it for something other than shaving my left forearm. Here are some examples of the "hard use" :D I've subjected my new Millie to:

  • Opening a birthday card - Those Halmark envelopes can be tough sometimes!
  • Cutting out the wall of a restaurant to make way for an additional add-on room. Granted it was my daughter's play restaurant she made out of an cardboard box. The additional room was a pop-tart box… pretty clever I thought.
  • Preparing breakfast. Specifically cutting the adhesive label/tape holding the lid on my box of Hy Vee oatmeal raisin cookies.

I got to wondering, what are other people using their Millies for?

One of my Para2's is always hanging around but for the Military itself they all just sleep there life away in one of my Safes ~~ boy what a life they have.* (yes they are just what everybody hates ~~~ "Safe Queens" -- but everybody to there own I always say.!**)

A Military as a Safe Queen??? The horror!!!

Actually, reading about the upcoming Cru-Wear Military I wonder if most buyers will safe-queen them or put them into EDC rotation. I'm not sure what I will do (if I'm lucky enough to get my hands on one).

I have a Military that has been a frequent companion for 21 years, and this guy says his is a safe queen. What's the world coming to anyhow?

As to the OP, I just woke up so nothing yet. I am sure that will change later though.

I doubt it was 21 years cuz' Military is released 1996 :p But I agree its far from safe queen. I often carry my milie for edc too.

I bought my Military in 1992 or 3. Actually bought two of them back then, one was a fully serrated ATS-34 model. Which I sold before 1996. If you were to go back to back issues of Tactical Knives, they did their first article in 92 or 93. I bought mine based on that article.

I could be wrong on the years though. Just my recollection, which at my advanced age, could be off a few years.

What is the Cruwear version? Please tell me more.

The Cru-Wear is an upcoming sprint that will use Crucible's CRU-WEAR steel. According to Crucible "CRU-WEAR excels in applications that require higher wear resistance than D2, greater toughness than M2 high speed steel, or in applications that require both."

From what I've been able to piece together it's going to be offered plain edge only and with gray G-10 scales. Should hit the stores very late sumer/fall of this year.

Wow, sounds like one to keep an eye out for. Get in on a pre-release buy.

I have them in S30v and M390 and neither have seen the inside of a safe...just the inside of my pocket.
The Military has been my go-to folder for years now and surprisingly doesnt show wear like my other folders. The g10 and CF handles are extremely tough yet very comfortable and the lock-up hasnt changed since day 1.
Back on topic:
My Millies get used everyday. They do ALOT of whittling believe it or not, and breaking down boxes has also been a recent chore for my s30v.
They also feel even better clipless.

Mine got shipped off today. I only got to spend about a week with it. On to the next pass around participant. I will hopefully get the Cru Wear version, but as it stands I do not own one.

- Played with the Millie on the ride to work
- Broke down a box
-Scrapped a glob of paint from the bed of a work truck, got a bath in paint thinner.
- Probed for water shut off valves
- cut sod
-got a bath
-played with on the ride home
- honed on my car window
- currently in my pocket

0haven't butchered anything bigger than a pullet with my ti-millie. it's great as a carving knife though since it's easier to clean food gunk off titanium compared with g-10 or cf.

A slow day yesterday for my millie. Cut up a nectarine and opened a Spyderco box.

The Spyderco box contained my new Sage 1

safe queen Millie? that's a travesty.

mine hasn't done anything yet today. this week it's been a lot of mundane cardboard, zip ties, lunch prep, got a few stray threads on the gf s outfit last night.

it's really been hungering for some wood lately since the last camping trip.

Sitting in the console box of my car as usual. The PM2 and the Super Tool 300 with full bit kit are my car gear.

Just realized this is the Military thread. Hope to get one soon to compare to my Manix 2 XL. I prefer big knives for EDC.

Today my millie met another one of her siblings. My Dragonfly 2 had been missing for over a month. Tonight I found it hiding underneath a cushion on the couch. So now the whole family is happily back together (in order of age): Atlantic Salt, Dragonfly 2 VG10, Millie, Sage 1.

Nice quigibo. Haha... the couch cushions are always the first place I look when this heart sinking occurrence goes down.

Today my military was helping me clean my garage. It got to break down about 10 boxes. It needed a few passes on the stones and strop when I was done. It's now ready for it's next job. I should have used my Gayle Bradley. It was some tough cardboard.
