What direction do you think the new folders are going to take

I'm on the waiting list for the new folder and am curious as to what direction CRK will be going with these, a replacement for the Umfaan or something beefier along the lines of a Strider or Hinderer XM-18? I'd love for it to be the latter, but of course with Chris' eye for design. Your thoughts?

given the sleek lines of all crk knives, i dont think a strider-like knife would be in the works. i would speculate maybe a larger mnandi or the like.

To avoid confusion, I didn't mean Strider or Hinderer styling or design, but merely thicker slabs, blades, and stronger tip design than the sebbie.

I trust whatever the direction it is, I going to be wonderful!! And like rifon2: The direction will be stright to my pocket!!

IMO that's the exactly wrong approach to take. Sharpened prybar knives may be cool, but the don't cut.

I'd rather see a medium sized folder of a new design, with revised sharpening process so that they come as sharp as spyderco knives.

Well, what about... no-inlay Mnandi? Or redesigned Umfaan? Or kind of Mnandi with spear-point blade?

How about a mnandi size folder with wharencliff blade, wood inlay, and the "45" LOCK?

Because I have rather large hands, I would be knocked out by a new mnandi with a handle of at least four and one-quarter inches. I feel most comfortable with knife handles that accommodate all four fingers (with the thumb on a grooved thumb ramp). Right now, after selling some thirty smaller knives, I own just two knives--two that fit me oh so comfortably--a large Classic cocobolo Sebenza and a Ka-Bar Dozier spearpoint zytel hunter. Of course, I will be buying more large Classic Sebenzas, because nothing feels better to me. And if the new CRK models are large, I'll be getting them too. I also willl be buying some Bob Dozier fixed blades.

I want a big, thick, beefy folder too.

But I like the Sebenza Design.

So, I guess I want an XLG Sebenza.

They could fold a Shadow blade into a 5" handle.

Or a Sable OTF Auto.:D Wouldn't that be sick?:D

.

I'm really hoping it's the redesigned umfaan. I personally wouldn't buy a folder larger than a large sebe. That is probably the only folder Chris Reeve could make that I wouldn't buy.

I agree that the large Sebbie is big enough for me as well. A new Umfaan would be cool!

I think Dave may have the right idea. An updated Mnandi and/or Umfaan wouldn't be "new". I'm thinking medium sized with an atitude.

You know, a medium Sebbie would be a wonderful idea. Man, you guys have some great ideas.
