Apparently some thought this was some kind of test or something. LOL So I am moving what the have in "common" to the top.

They are all listed in an article "Sharp-Steel Staying Power" by Mike Haskew. On pages 18 and 19 of the current issue of Blade (Spring 2011)!

NOTE: Don't Hijack the thread because your favorite isn't listed. Don't blame Mike...he got 100% of the names, knives and prices from some idiot. :D

I certainly agree with many of the names listed however there's a few I can't help but wonder what justifications or reasons regarding "staying power" the generator of the list had in mind. Perhaps after reading the article I may change my mind.
In any case I will look forward to getting my copy.

Doubt there's ever been a knife article written where everyone agrees with everything in it. They are for the most part made up of opinions and you would hope informed opinions by those who have the experience and knowledge on what they are commenting/writing on. I think the knife magazines (especially Blade) generally do a good job and try hard to seek informed opinions.

Anyway, I feel if an article causes readers to think outside their box and/or creates new ideas then they are successful.

Les, hope I didn't stray too far off topic, however I didn't really know where you were going with this thread.

Hi Kevin,

First, note I already wrote...I did not write that article. Which means I did not name the article.

Where was I going with this...simply to let the members of this forum that many of the makers who both contribute their time and skills to this forum and other projects....were mentioned in the article.

That's it.

They are all CKCA members i believe. Haha, thats all i can come up with. Well and ABS members.

Cool Les. And congratulations to all.
And to clarify my post, I didn't mean that I didn't necessarily agree with the entire list just that I would like more information and I'm sure the article will provide it.

You are correct Jon as ALL are CKCA members.

Hi Jonathan,

Go all the way down to the bottom of the post. :D

Im going to move the reason to the top.

Mike is one of my favorite writers - I look forward to the article.

Roger

Hi Roger,

Mike is an excellent writer. This article has some excellent photos and a index of the makers and which knives are selling for what.

Basically a "snap shot" of right now.
