Greetings All,
I have a Balisong I acquired in 85/86 that's been floating around in my sock drawer. I want to sell it but I have no expertise with butterfly knives so I would like to turn to you forumites for help with what model it is and possible worth. It is just a shade over 9 inches total length with a skeletonized handle. The finish on the handle and blade is a matte/subdued/blasted finish. The blade has a bit of belly with a false edge on top tapering back about 2.5 inches. Marked on one side of the blade is Bali-Song with U.S.A underneath. The other side has a butterfly, which is kinda faint. Posted 4 pics if anyone can help me out.

Mucho thanks for any responses!!!

Looks like you have a fine example of a 4" Bali-Song USA custom with the bowie clip blade and bead-blasted finish. The market is wide open; it's hard to tell what it would sell for. If you have the sheath, box, etc...IMHO it's in the $400+ range.......

It's a Pacific Cutlery Model 402 with a bead-blasted finish. While it says Bali-Song on it, it has the (R) for the registered trademark on the butterfly logo and that came with Pacific. Pacific still marked theirs "Bali-Song (over) USA" as did Benchmade, so that can be distracting.

The value depends a great deal on the condition. The pictures you've posted are great. Thanks. That is very helpful. But, they don't show enough to determine condition completely.

Mr. Dawkind is correct as usual. From these pictures, I'd give it a very conservative $350-400. It's probably in better condition than I can assume from these pictures and, therefore, probably worth more than this.

Don't listen to Dawkind and Gollnick! They like to hype up everything! That knife is garbage. I can't believe you've held on to it for so long. Anyway, I'll do you a favor. What do you say I email you my address and you could send that knife to me. I promise to properly dispose of that knife so that nobody could possibly hurt themselves while manipulating such a poorly constructed knife like this one. And just because I'm such a sport, I'll pay the shipping! Let me know what you think.

Honestly, unless you need money, hold on to that!

Depends on if one is watching the market or if one is trying to CONTROL the market. Lot's of freakin' snakes out there buddy!
