Hello,

I was given this knife from my Uncle and I am wondering what time period this knife is from and it's worth. It was given to me with the pouch and the knife seems to be in fairly decent condition. Thanks for the help.

Steve

Well we're not allowed to give you a value, but obviously it's a buck 110.
Anyway the BUCK USA stamp without the model # was used from '67-'72

Welcome! You have a very nice knive there. Since it was given to you by a family member I'm sure you want to keep it. It has some very good steel, 440C which takes a keen edge that lasts a good while. There's 2 ways you can go on this, just sharpen and keep it the way it was given, looks like Macassar Ebony scales are in real nice shape and brass has a nice patina, or you could send to Buck and for a nominal fee they will make it all pretty again. Just search this site there's info how to do it.

There are stickies at the top of the forum with quite a bit of data that might help to narrow it down even further than what the tang stamp suggests.

By the way... welcome aboard!

Steve,

Welcome to the forum. I can't see the rear spacer/springholder, but I am assuming it is made of brass, not steel; if so, with the steel rocker rivet and the inverted Buck/USA tang stamp that should be a 4th Version, Second Variation 110. That model was made from about 1970-1972.

Welcome to the Forum. That is a very nice knife you have there. Those early 110's are my favorite of all. That knife will last you and you can hand it down to your son.

Thanks Everyone for the quick responses! Happy to be aboard. I am also wondering what the value would be for this piece?

Steve,

Since you are new to the forum, there are a couple of forum rules to learn. One of them is that you can't discuss values of a knife unless you have a Gold membership or higher. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

That's a good looking knife. I like a knife with character. I'd be tempted to just sharpen it and use it as is.

Welcome to the forum -

You've a nice model 110 from a family member. Speaking for myself, I'd just clean it up a bit, keep it oiled and wiped down, and put away to pass along to your children some day. Don't store it in the sheath. Little leather conditioner on the sheath to keep it supple.

These models are well regarded but not that particularly valuable as they can be found pretty easily on the secondary market. So I'd say it would have more intrinsic value as a keepsake.

An eBay search of sold items would give you an idea of worth in this condition. As mentioned, specific values aren't discussed here. I just wanted to give you an option to get an answer to your question. :)
