I have a lesson motor single phase that will run clock wise and counter clock wise,I think I need a 6 prong toggle switch to make it
run one way and then the other.Am I wright in my thinking or do I need
somthing else.please give me any input on what I would need and how
to wire it.
Thanks:)

That is REALLY complicated:p
Naw just kidding. I used a regular plug from Home depot and wired the two wires from the controller to that. Then took the two wires that lead to the motor and hooked them up to a standard outlet in a box. Plug it in.
To reverse it, stop the motor (Be sure it has stopped all the way) plug in the plug opposite from what it was. Reverse!!!
Just mark the box L or R and you will be able to tell which way you are headed.

Nathan,if you don't have a controller and just a motor, yes you will need a 6 terminal 3 position switch.Crisscross the corner terminals, hook the power to the center terminals and it should be #5 and #8 wires, or the input wires to your motor.A 3 position will give you a center off.And Robert, you really should be using a grounding plug for your safety,Dave.

Robert.........no offense.......but that sounds just like something a dumbass knifemaker would do!!! BE CAREFUL.......I would go the safety route myself and do it with a reversing switch. Just about any electrician can hook it up for you.

Would not a 3-way wall switch work, if it is wired in before the on/off switch?

Nathan,

I've used the drum rotary swithes. I've bought them from graingers here locally. They are also online at: www.grainger.com.

They have a couple of them:

Dayton Brand : 2x442 $46.85

Sq D : 2bw44 $65.35

Call them for tech service help and ask them to send/fax a schematic for the wire hook up for the switches listed above. Let them know it is for a single phase motor and give them the details. The schematic shows all the options for different motor combinations. That takes all the guess work out of the job and gets you up and running without the proverbial "smoke test"

One more note......do not run the KMG1 in reverse....it was not designed for reverse operation and I can't think of a good reason to do it.

Good luck,
Rob
