I just got a new ZT 302 in trade. This has been one of my grail knives for a while now. The 302 is by far the coolest looking knife I have.

I have a 0300 that I use quite often and really like the 0300-0303 series of ZT knives. I read someplace on BF that someone

read on on the ZT facebook that ZT is going to start making the 302 again in 2012.

Do I use it and enjoy it or save it for my wifes' next husband ?

Edit: my knife was made in July of 2007

save it. who knows, maybe the new 0302s will have some differences from the older runs, even if they are little differences. Save this one that you sought after, and if they do another run, buy a new one and use that.

ZT doesn't make show-knives - go chop down a telephone pole with that thing and whittle it down to a toothpick.

hey now, as capable as that knife is for doing that, you don't want to kill its collectability! If its old enough to have a date stamp on the blade, take care of it. If its too new to have the month/year stamp on the blade, go ahead abuse it. :D

Sorry - I'm currently on a kick to get rid of all the knives that sit on my shelf and only get knives that I'm comfortable using (no disrespect to the collectors out there - I understand the hobby completely). I'm on a search for two of my grail knives, and I plan on using them despite their value/collectibility (if that's even a word).

I've just gotten to the point where I can't stand to see a knife not used to it's potential (at least in my collection). I did the same thing with guns a while back - only users in the safe now.

 I couldn't agree more.

I say use it.

I get more satisfaction out of knife when it's in my hand being used rather than knowing it's in a glass case sitting at home.

Well said, I did the same thing with my collection recently, there are only a few things I don't use much, but they still do see some action, even if its just opening mail.

and yeah I believe collectibility is a word, just unsure of the spelling :D I think you have it right.

Knives are made to be used. Using them gives them character, and gives enjoyment to the user. I love using mine. I say use it and enjoy it.

If it was a grail I am sure I wouldn't use it. I tend to conserve with things deemed a favorite unless it is a tool, then I use the best I have. Truth is I don't use a knife much other than kitchen duties. I like it when I need to use my EDC but it doesn't happen often.

One way to look at it, how much would it cost you $20, $30, $50? Almost all of us drop $50 on pleasure of some sort and think nothing of it. Is that in your budget?

Sounds like you want to use it...use it.
