What do the numbers mean on Medford knives?

Sorry this is probably a dummy question but I can't seem to find what the numbers mean on Medford knives in a Google search or on here. They don't seem to be serial numbers since I've seen reference to matching numbers. Are they designating blade steel type and various customizations. My Praetorian T tanto has for example 91-034 on it. Can anyone tell what that means?

IDK but maybe year 1991 , 34th knife of that model ? 🤔

Otherwise , no idea .
Thanks for the guess but Greg was in the Marines until 1992 so not likely he was making knives yet at that time. I will probably contact Medford to see if I can get a good answer on this. I just thought some of the Medford knife fans here would have info on this. Or maybe I'm just a more curious guy than most -- I have been called an infoholic 🙂

I vaguely remember him discussing this in a video watched over a year ago.

I believe he said that the numbers are used to keep batches in order.

I asked at one point and they said the numbers refer to production batches.

n2s

Sorry B bladeshaman - Off topic. Does anyone remember when Mr Medford demonstrated his glass breaking pommel on his truck ? Reminded me of a younger Lynn C Thompson with three times the enthusiasm. Not sure if that demonstrated the his knives abilities or his sanity - either way, it was fun to watch. The guy stands behind his product.

91-034 = 20(19), January (1st month), 034 (34th knife in the run)

Thanks for clarifying that Chuck_Nunface! When I saw your earlier post I was having trouble decoding it but this makes sense. No problem with slightly off topic luethge - just adds to my impression Greg Medford is one of the really good guys (IMO) as opposed to one knife maker I dealt with years ago that couldn't have been any worse at customer service if he tried.

Other comments gladly accepted if I get a 🤣 from them...

They're a half pound apiece on the low end, what is there to stand behind
