Hey i was just emptying my pockets and found a benchmade darkstar (now broke) if your wondering just read the "BM Bluestar" post, and an asp 26' inch collapsible baton and a 15 inch D2 kabar, and i was just wondering if i was average in these forums or am i above or below par.It would be nice to hear anyone else's carry habits partially to make me feel less wierd and to see if i might need to carry more heheh :D

Where on earth did you find a 15" Ka-Bar??? Are you sure you didn't mean 12" (I thought the D2 versions only comes in the full size USMC combat knife, the impact series, and their new folders).

Anyway....My EDC is either a:
  • CRK Large plain sebenza - in a custom leather pancake belt sheath
  • CRK Small leather-inlay classic sebenza (on its way from CRK :) )
  • Bulldog stag-handled canoe slip-joint
  • + always a Leatherman Micra (on keychain)
...it all depends on the day / my mood / etc... Sometimes I'll add my Leatherman Wave to this set-up.

When in the field (military / wilderness outings), I carry a:
  • RMJ Talon (if I think I may need it)
  • CRK Project II
  • Leatherman Wave
  • Large plain sebenza - in a TAD sheath
  • Beretta FS - in pancake sheath, and/or Ruger SP101 .357 (SOB), or Glock 29 (SOB).

Hunting:
  • Buck 110 - Pete's custom (BG-42, stag, ns bolsters/pins)
  • Remington 'waterfowl' knife (small game standby)
  • Appropriate firearm...

I have others that make the cut sometimes...but these are the most notable ones...

Hey your right it is a 12' inch D2 sorry about the false advertising
but it is a great knife:D

Agreed. I have broken my fair share of 1095 Ka-Bars in the last 8 years I have spent in the Marines...but from what I have seen, I have nothing but praise to offer for the D2 one (although I do like the traditional look of the older ones better). I am also a bit leery as to how well the D2 ones would hold up to hard throwing. This is probably a bit unjustified. The 1095 ones I have thrown eventually become severely bent at the handle/blade juncture, but they could always be bent back again...I wonder if the D2 is 'too' hard to make a good thrower...? I assume that due to the higher RC it is offered in and 'better' steel composition (it's semi-stainless (some Cr) and it has added Moly & Vanadium), the D2 Ka-Bar should have a marked advantage in edge holding, and resistance to wear (from digging, cutting, etc.) over the 1095 ones...who knows. How has your experience been with yours??? What kind of abuse has it endured?

The traditional ones are great mind you...just not in the same league (price, performance, aesthetics (I like the old a bit more) or otherwise) with the D2 version. Currently, I carry my P2...and I love it.

Welcome to the forums.

My typical EDC is a Calypso Jr. in the right pocket, and a vintage Schrade -Walden stockman with jigged bone scales in the left pocket.

Hunting, I usually opt for my Marbles Fieldcraft. Sometimes I also take a custom from Lee Reeves in forged 52100.

If I'm carrying light, I'm carrying:

Keys-left front pocket
Wallet-left rear pocket
Luminox Steel Dive Watch, G-Shok Illuminator, or Rolex Submariner-left wrist
Sprint Cell Phone-right front pocket or overshirt pocket
Asthma inhaler-T shirt pocket or right front pocket
CRKT Crawford/Kasper, Spyderco Police or Benchmade Darkstar-clipped to right front pocket
CRKT Crawford Point Guard, Emerson CQC-7, or Benchmade 710 Axis lock folder-clipped to left front pocket
Glock23, H&K USP40, or Taurus 617 with Hydrashoks-rear right hip in beltslide holster
Extra mag or speedstrip-front left hip on belt

If I'm packing heavy, I'm carrying all of the above, plus:
Extra mag/speedstrip pouch-front right hip on belt
Cold Steel Mini Culloden-around neck
Leatherman multitool-left rear hip on belt
Sabre pepper spray-left front pocket

Man, that's a bunch of stuff...

Hehehe. Okay, here we go. This has all of my various carry

Weekday carry:
Large Classic Sebenza (love this knife!!!)
Kershaw Double Cross (classy and functional)
Victorinox Cybertool (this sucker is the ultimate urban survival tool)

When day hiking:
Dozier K-4 (the ultimate) or Marbles Fieldcraft
Victorinox Huntsman (love the saw blade)

When canoeing and fishing:
Spyderco Military (great knife)
Cold Steel Bird&Trout (awesome design, but lousy execution)

Hanging out at my camp:
Buck BG-42 110 (awesome knife)
Robeson ATS-34 wharncliffe whittler (great for whittling)

I just ordered up a Camillus mini-Talon, which will probably take the place of both the Cold Steel Bird&Trout and the Kershaw Double Cross. I dig the design of the Bird&Trout, but what moron decided to make a fishing knife out of bead blasted AUS-6? Talk about a rust magnet.

I also always have a Dakota carabineer watch hanging from my belt loop. I love this watch. It’s cheap and indestructible, having metal bars to protect the crystal from cracking. I’ve put this watch through absolute hell, and it’s never failed me.

I love these threads!! I carry a total of three knives. This lists below are my current choices. I'd like to carry all of them at once, but if I fell in a river, I'd surely drown!

*Daily carry in right pocket:

Carson Model 4 (blue/green micarta handle) -or-
Terzuola ATCF (carbon fiber handle) -or-
Emerson P-SARK (green G-10 and satin blade)

*Daily carry in left pocket (sheeple friendly alternatives to right pocket)

Spyderco Salsa -or-
Spyderco Dragonfly -or-
Victorinox Spartan

*Belt carry option to suppliment right and left pocket:

Strider TKa -or-
Spyderco Gunting in Skunkworks sheath -or-
Benchmade 42 in Clay's Kydex IWB rigs

What am I carrying at this minute? The teeniest Victorinox swiss army classic, since that is the only thing I can sneak in through the metal detectors here at work. :(

However, once I get off work, my Spyderco Military comes out of the truck console box and into my pocket. At home, on my belt goes the large Classic Sebenza in my new Kenny Rowe black basketweave tooled pouch. :)

Lately, I've been carrying a Remington Waterfowler stockman. Decent knife, holds and edge well. My other EDC is a REKAT Savant. Still waiting for my Jens Anso Personal Sheepsfoot.

Chris

I carry the following everywhere:
Spyderco Delica 98 Full-serrated (ATS-55) in the front right pocket.
Cheap knockoff of a Victornox in the front left.
Leatherman Multitool (original) on the right hip.

Hunting I grab my fathers KaBar and a generic $5 divers knife in the truck.

Yup, I posted in that thread more detail about the Sheepsfoot I ordered. It was the same article you read that got me to order mine.
