What could this possibly be?

The blade and backspring of what will eventually become a really, really nice knife?

Hmmmm....very curious indeed. I can't figure it out :p

Can I please get on the passaround list for that one:p

Ah ha!

I'll post the sign up list in the appropriate forum once this one is done. I just wanted to give a little taste of the goodness that will be coming. Of course, I'll have to carry this one around for a bit to make sure it's ready to hit the road. :p

Count me in for sure on that Pass-around!!:D:thumbup:

Jason, will this one be etched A2?

I'm not taking any names yet. :) We should probably avoid talking about signing up for anything as this thread might get moved. I just wanted to get a little buzz going...

The blade and spring will be etched....why you ask? Because it looks awesome. :p

I think it's safe to say that buzz will definitely be achieved. (I am already having trouble hearing over it this morning;))
I have now subscribed to the appropriate forum and will hopefully not miss the chance.

As Jason mentioned, this is not the appropriate thread to discuss or initiate pass-arounds so please be patient and await further information or reach out privately via email or PM for additional information.

Here are some more WIP pics....looking pretty sweet.

EDIT: The descriptive text is from Kerry.

Here is the blade with final grinds and the bushing sized sitting in the pivot hole

The next thing to do was make the liners. The way I make shadow patterned knives is to make a stainless/micarta "sandwich" and build the knife right on the handle assembly. The first hole drilled is the back hole, or in this case, the lanyard hole. Spring is positioned on the handle blank and the lanyard hole is drilled. Then, the blade is positioned to mark the pivot hole.

The center hole is drilled and, after some tuning of the tang in all three positions, the final handle profile is arrived at.

The next step is milling the tang relief to keep the liners from scratching the tang...a .007" cut. The jig allows the handle to be rotated by hand to follow the same action as the blade.

More WIP pics.....sooooo close to being done now.

These three images show the tools used to make pivot washers with perfectly centered holes. The washers should be around .060" thick when finished in the handles.

The pivot washer pocket is cut with a 1/4" pilot drill.

Here the shield and pivot washers have been pinned/glued in place and handle rough shaped for assembly.

Next...etch the spring and blade

Spring and blade is etched and knife is together for final assembly
