What do y'all think of the changes?

Seems to be a lot of emotion regarding the demise of the CT and BR. I would like to see what y'all think. If your a Basic member just chime in and I'll count them up each evening and tally it all up when the thread slows a bit. Right now it seems to be a dead heat between the Resiprene fans and the Micarta fans, also those who dont want change vs. those who embrace it. Lessee how this goes!

I have faith that the Swamp will be improving their wares. I just hope that resiprene C will still be an option for customers. I am the first to admit that I prefer the softer resiprene C and it was one of the reasons why I buy SwampRat.

A little more than two hours notice would be helpful in the future.

i vote to bring it on! i am relatively new to the rat experience, but i think they are a good company with deep roots, so we should have not a thing to fear with the changes coming.

What the changes are actually going to be hasn't been announced yet, so why are we getting bent out of shape?

I haven't been disappointed by anything new I've seen from the Swamprat folks.

I do hope they will keep a respirene handle option though for at least a few knives. It does have it's place.

But let me add that I don't think that there are a whole lot of people complaining about the change itself -- I think the emotion primarily comes from the suddenness of the change.

Consider Swamp Rats market. SRKW is geared toward making top quality knives for people who may not be able to afford a Busse. They (we) recognize the quality of the blades, but may need to save our pennies for a while. A lot of what I'm hearing, is from the people who were saving up specifically for a CT or BR and without warning, they are gone. There is fear of rising costs with the new models as well as the possibility that the knife that they want may not be reintroduced.

I have all the confidence that Swamp Rat will release some fantastic knives in this next generation of blades and I don't think that they're out to raise prices. I am their market. They have a great track record of keeping me happy, I doubt that will change.

Sounds like you fit in the "Dont care what happens as long as SRKW keeps on making awesome knives" :thumbup:

There seems to be very few who are really stirred up about this, I agree with 360 here, those that are fussing so much were caught off guard and arent too happy about that. But I dont expect there to be anything radically different, or so much more expensive to come out, so those saving for that particular knife will probably get a pleasant surprise and find something that fits that niche just as well, if not better.

My vote, if I did, would be for the "bring it on, change is good" as well, with a slight lean towards the micarta faction.

Words of wisdom, all, even if I'll have to agree to disagree on the micarta. Don't get me wrong, I have several micarta handled knives and it's a great material, but resiprine is about as close to perfect as one can get, unless visual romance be given a great deal of weight.

Change is good but I also think Res - C handles should stay at least as an option. I love my Howler Res C handle, and I think it's the best handle to work with a knife in cold and wet conditions.

ok, heres the gist: there's a lot of guessing lately about whats going to happen, what I want to know is what people think/want to happen. We have fans of each handle stle, fans of both handle styles, some who dont want the current line to change, and those who welcome the change. If you own one or the other, or are simply a fan, what are your preferences? If you dont have a favorite then you vote for the "I dont care what happens as long as SRKW continues to make cool knives!"
