what do you all think about this knife?

I think bruseletto sells blades for use by hobbyists. That is probably the source of the knife and blade. Their blades are generally good steel. They have a website, plus there are some others, that display their available blades.

Looks like a semi-custom, or kit knife to me. Brusletto does sell good blades. The only question is where the carved handle came from. Too bad it was slapped together with just a simple oval guard. You can count on the blade. How much asking/paid?

Thanks for the help. I paid $10.00 for it from a matinance guy in my old apt. that found it when someone moved out. Thanks John

not 100% sure it's stag, but it's definitely real antler.

Unlikely sambar. It looks more like whitetail deer antler. I've used sambar, elk, whitetail and mule deer antler and that looks just like whitetail.

From an artistic point of view, the handle seems to overpower the blade. Seems like a blade half again as long would be more appropriate. But it sure seems worth the ten bucks!

Looks like the blade is a POS to me but I'd gladly dish out twice as much for it just because the Eagle/SeaGull handle looks pretty cool.

Thanks so much for the help. I agree with the blade is a little short, but The reason I bought it was the carved handle and I thought it might be stag. I do not use it, so It just sits on my display shelf with my LITTLE collection. I figured For $10.00 It was woth it, but I was not sure because this is the first knife like this I have bought.I do not have any experiance with knives that are not production knives. I am very glad to hear it is at least some kind of antler. Does anyone have any suggestions on a blade I could replace it with? Is that something I would need to have someone do or could I buy a knife blade from a knife supply co. and fit it myself. Thanks everyone. John

Personally, I don't think it would be worth it to try to replace the blade. Brusletto blades are not junk. I have used them myself. Good nordic steel.

I would just keep the knife as-is and when the time is right, commission another piece similar to it but with the size blade and handle that you really want.
