What do you cut and how do you clean?

I use my Izula mainly for destruction. Whether its tape, cardboard, rope, or other articles that need destroying.

But I do see a lot of people that cut food with theirs. Do you carry something to clean your knife between destroying things to cut your banana bread or do you jut man-illy eat everything with a slight under-tone of nylon rope schmeg?

Don't get me wrong, I was my hands as little as possible use the same glass for milk and orange juice without rinsing and the 5 second rule goes into affect after I find the roadkill, just a question.

I try to wash the chunks off but other than that it's all good.
I've been using my RC 3 at work. It cuts open bundles of strips, and I used it to cut the nylon banding on that pallet as well as carving sticks when it gets slow.
At lunch time it cuts my buns, butters the bread and slices the steak/chicken or spreads the tuna. A little wipe and good to go.
If I'm not using the 3 then it's my Izzy.

I usually just wipe the knife on my pant leg. Sometimes I will add water or spit prior to this.

If I'm at home cooking I'll just wash it off, but rubbing it on my shirt is good enough otherwise.

The knife I EDC gets used for whatever. While I'm out, its a wipe on my pants. When I get home I'll usually wash it with dish soap.

I usually don't cut much food with my izula, but try to wash it (at least give it a fresh wiping off) beforehand when I do

Typically I just wipe it on my pants, but I'll wash it if I cut something like raw meat.

If I use mine for opening boxes ,cutting carpet or cutting general stuff ,I just wipe it off on my pant leg or if glue from tape is on it ,I'll use alittle zippo fluid or something... bloody mess like fresh caught fish or something ,I'll rinse with atleast water if soap is not available :D

now if I use it at work, I'll spray B12 on it set it afire and the wash with soap & water  :)

I'll use my EDC for any daily chore while at work. Stripping wire, opening boxes, even cutting holes in sheet rock. Then just give it a quick rub on the jeans to clean it before slicing up fruit for lunch.

The only exception to this, I left my EDC on the counter while visiting family. I walked into the room to find a relative cleaning crap out of their toes with the knife tip! I boiled, burned, and doused that thing in gaseline before I could bring myself to touch it again!

I'm a knife noob, so my actions might be wrong. :foot:

Cutting food with my knives:

I just wash the knife with dishsoap, cut my food, and rewash the knife with dishsoap. When I'm all done, I oil the knife to keep it from rusting.

Hopefully me washing the knife with dishsoap x2 isn't bad. :o

I use my knives for everything; cooking, eating, cardboard, tape, rope, wood...etc. If i use use it to prepare a meal in a kitchen and I am doing dishes then I will just wash it with everything else, but that doesn't happen very often so its good to give it a good cleaning. Otherwise I just wipe it clean on my jeans or I may lick it clean or use water if its really messy.

I do pretty much the same as all the above posts except I never oil my knives unless they are going to be stored for long periods of time and most of my knives do not have a blade coating. I have never had an issue with rust when it comes to the knives I EDC.
When I wash my knives with soap and water they get completely washed handles and all. I have never removed any slabs to dry under them.

I EDC my Izula 2 and it gets used for everything including food prep. I removed the blade coating a couple days after received it. No rust issues.

I do try (dosen't always happen) to wash my knives with soap and water after any food prep only because I don’t want any gunk to build up in the sheath.

I just got my ESEE-5.... but prior to it all I mainly cut bags of rolled oats (for the cows), and opened bails of hay... and we always seem to run out of knives when a lot of people come over for chow, so my pocket knife was always handy

if I use it to eat, just rinse it with some rubbing alcohol.

I just stir the blade in a glass of Absolut, Kettle One, Grey Goose, or whatever we have at the moment. And then, because I don't want to waste the vodka, it's over the lips and past the gums . . . watch out stomach 'cause here it comes!
