What do you do when you can't find the knife you really want?

Man oh man is it difficult to find a lefty sebenza with an insingo blade! I am going nuts looking for one.

Any one else have a knife they can't find and are dying to get their hands on?

I don't currently, but I've been there. Almot 2 years to run down an Enzo Birk in the configuration I wanted. Not quite that long to get hold of a Fantoni Hide. It can make for a long wait but it can absolutely be worth it. Hang in there. And don't forget the wtb forum here.

Email sent. :)

It's not easy, but I wait. It's better for my wallet too. I pass up the knives I want if I think the price is too inflated. Another will come around someday ;).

I usually buy 5 knives that I don't really want before I can get the gear shift in neutral and lock away the CC :o.

Honestly, I have a lot of patience and a lot of places to look. I just keep making the rounds until what I want pops up. If you're chasing a new one, you might try looking down the dealer list on CRK's web site. Many of those dealers have Internet stores and will be happy to take your order if they have what you want. I usually start with the dealer closest to me and move outward until I get a hit or get to the end of the list. If you don't mind "pre-owned", then BF, KF, EDCforums, and USN all have active sales areas.

I've had my eye on an Enzo Birk for awhile now, would you mind sharing the specific config you searched so long for?

CF and a D2 Scandi grind. And once the new model came out I added that to the configuration choices. I would see a Birk here or there but always wood scales or something I wasn't looking for.

I actually know a dealer that has that one (assuming model 75). I'm looking for the much less common model 75 CF/S30V scandi grind.

I've been searching for a Kershaw G10 Leek, and they are rather hard to come by for a reasonable price nowadays.

Patience is the key to this game.

Nonsense, everyone knows if you can't find the knife you want you should buy hundreds of dollars worth of others to hold you over, that way when the one you really want comes up for sale you've already spent all your knife funds, have to list all your knives for sale till you raise the money and then by that time the one you wanted will already be gone.

I do something similar to a gratitude list... I take out all my folders and snap a group shot.

All good suggestions. I picked up a close substitute to get me though. Still on the hunt though.

I am hunting a specific form of Charlow at the moment.
After checking some (30+) online retailers around the world I started talking to the awesome people over in the Traditionals sub-forum and got some good leads I am following at the moment.

To pass the time until I actually find one I use some kind of "knife-methadone" ... in this case I ordered my first Peanut ;)

That's what I do, pick up something similar (if possible) to carry while I continue hunting for the one I'm after.

I go to sleep early and make a wish to the sandman .
