I have a Case Peanut ss pocket knife that I've had for about a year and I never warmed up to the color. If you're not feeling the connection do you use it for dirty work?

Yes, it shouldn't be that hard to find someone who'd appreciate a Case peanut. Or carry it to lend to people who want to borrow your knife, or keep it on the workbench. I don't know what you mean by dirty work: if you mean abuse I would not myself do that; if you mean rough use of a type that knives are for, than why not.

Find your local scout group and donate them. Talk to the scoutmaster and explain how you would want them raffled or whatever.

I usually give them away or put 'em up on the bay to fund another purchase that I may connect with. It really depends on the value of the knife. I am a generous guy but i'm not a wealthy man so it really just depends;)

SAKGUY....Yep its a #23 in burnt stag...I dont know why its called burnt stag as it looks like natural stag to me??...Lovely knife in all ways.............FES

Had an extra Case Peanut Chestnut Bone CV new in box. Sent it as a gift to a fellow forum member on another site who had commented inquisitively about them in a thread. I believe he carries it every day. It was just sitting in a box on my shelf.

Gave a Kershaw Skyline to a friend at work. I just never carried it, even though it was a fine knife. He keeps it in his workshop at home and uses it frequently.

I was gifted a Case 63033 Small Stockman by hunterjrg here on this forum (thanks again, Jon). It was kind of beat up and the main blade was bent. I cleaned it up, straightened the blade as well as I could, put a good edge on all the blades, and now it's my favorite 'little' knife for when I want a user in that size range.

So my advice, like others here, is to pass it on. There's somebody out there who will be pleased with it.

Your initial idea, of using it for dirty jobs, is fine too. Though that just means you'll be using it a lot. It would be odd if your least favorite knife ended up being the one you use the most. :)

Scouts aren't what they used to be. BSA probably wouldn't trust scouts with a sharp object, and would sell it to fund a popcorn sale at Kmart. Then they could annoy customers and give the proceeds to the homeless. It's really sad what the scouts have become.

if you havent 'connected' with a knife then my stock answer would be to carry it more. i have knives that i dont like to take to work, for example, that perform great for me out in the yard.
but if you have had the knife in question for a year then i would say to move it along to a happier home.

Buy a $2 block of Cabot cheese, a sleeve of saltines (less than .25), a candle and a pack of matches (probably free), and one of those knives you don't like. Tie them together, and hand them to a homeless guy and wish him a Merry Christmas. If he's really homeless, you just gave him a great gift.

That is exactly what happened with a Peanut that Paul sent me. My first (now I have several) and it is almost always in my pocket, even if I am carrying another knife. A gifted knife is pretty cool, IMHO. Has more meaning and "feel" than a knife just bought from a store.

Sometimes I just leave them on top of a gas pump when I fill my tank... they will find a home pretty quickly from there ;)
