Hi,
i was just woundering how you train with your knives. do you do any structured type of practice or just hack things? being a filipino stylist i like trying to put the kukri in to the drills. Me and my friend were screwing around stick vs kukri, needless to say we both swung at the same time and, well. . . no more stick :-)
what fun do you have?

Kaliman: My fun is pretty much limited to chopping logs with my 20 inch AK. That, to me is fun. Not being a martial arts practitioner, I don't pretend to know how to fight tactically with a knife (something I'd love to learn though).

I know Blackdog chops up sprinkler systems in his backyard . . . by accident or on purpose I haven't figured out yet!

I think you may want to explore Bando. Many a khukuri have been swung by those guys, who, judging by the limited experience I've had observing them, know how to use it!

Yes, it's true. I chop up sprinkler systems. The first time was an accident. But, if the grass gets no water it doesn't grow. If it doesn't grow, you don't have to cut it. If you don't have to cut it, you can sell your lawm mower and buy another Khukuri.

Sure, the neighbors moan about my barren wasteland of a yard, but I explain that i'm starving my grass to protest the decimation of the rain forest. We must save the forest for the future generations. I'm killing my lawn for the children. Let them argue with THAT!!

I use my Khuk's for chopping dead limbs and trees around the yard. They came in handy after the last hurricane came through here (S. Florida). I had 2 trees down and my neighbors had a few. They worked like magic.

My GH Panawal is an excellent frozen-food knife.
