What do you do with your old knives?

I spent a couple years trying to find the "perfect" EDC folder. Then I decided to go with a small fixed-blade AND a small folder for EDC. Then I've been searching for the "perfect" camping knife, and stumbled across a great hunting knife along the way.

I've learned what I like, and what I don't like, and wound up with a lot of redundant knives I really don't have much use for.

I've given away as many as I can to friends and family.

Now what do I do with the rest?

Mike

P.S. -- In case you were wondering what I've kept:

EDC Folders - Buck Mayo / Kershaw Boa
EDC Fixed - Busse AD / Dozier K1
Camping - Busse AB / Entrek Companion
Hunting - Patton Hunter

What's left in the "extra" pile is too long to list.

I agree with Keith, either sell them or trade them for something that you want. No need to let such great knives just lay around when somebody else might be able to enjoy them.

selling or trading all but the keepers is the way to go.

I've knocked my carry down to minimal(for me), and have about 20 quality ones sitting around. might be getting rid of about 10 of those probably.

can I still upgrade my carry? yep. have a custom skean dhu soon to upgrade my fixed(left hip). Do I still rotate the others in when I want a change? yep.

You don't really have that many knives! I would have to have twenty or so before I got concerned. It never hurts to have few quality spares around the house.:D

I would like to know what you have ! I like to buy some more as long as they are plain edge and not a tanto blade . You can email me if you think you may have some i want ! :)

I'd guess I have 20-something knives that are all nice / cool, but I just don't use, and I don't see that I'll ever use.

:(

I hate to part with them, but I hate just having them sitting around doing nothing too.

Mike

Why not just collect them.
If they are high quality knives, and you like them,
then maybe you should just hang on them, because you never know when your tastes will change.

I make sure any decent knives of mine are sold/traded to a good home, unless they aren't for "display".

I am a collector/user so it's no problem for me. Also, I have a 14 y.o. son to pass knives along to. And I am very picky about what I buy.

Mike,

A great line of fine blades there, I like your choices.

As to what for the rest, just hang on to em. One on these days a blade will come along you can't live without. Then sell em if needed.

Sorry, I miss read the post . I thought it said old wives. Different topic all together.

My old knives get sold, given away, go into the old knives basket or remain in the gunsafe.:D
