I have a mini A100 that I would like to put an edge on both sides of the blade.
Yeah I know about the Krien re grind that you boyz do,but shipping back and forth from Canada is a pain. I have a high speed diamond sharpener,and am thinking of pulling the blade through it,as it will grind both sides at once.
Hard to say, either it will work or I could ruin the knife completely. :confused:
 
IMO pull through sharpeners are up there with the worst things you can do to a knife.

If you really want a V ground edge I would use stones to rebevel the original
edge and then add a bevel to the other side to meet them in the middle.

Be carefull or you could goose the knife up real good and end up having to
send it out to someone like Tom K. or Richard J. any way.
 
Thanks Haze I know better, but its Saturday afternoon and you know, its one of those days where you say, hey lets try this :p Then spend all day Sunday regretting the dumb idea. The Sharpener is one I inherited from when I was a Butcher, its worth about $1.200 bucks or more, Works great on Butcher knives, three pulls and your done. Then again those knives are pretty cheap for cash, as they say.
 
One of my old uncles was a butcher and game keeper. He had his good knives that he sharpened by hand
on stones taking his sweet time to do a great job and then his work knives that he just "threw" an edge on.
 
Yep, Thank goodness when I was an apprentice, sharping on an oil stone was one of the first things I learned from the ole German butchers.

I always kept my daily knives tuned up, with only a few swipes down the stone,
before work. Later in life I was in the Supermarket chains, and no one there even new how to use an oil stone, as the young bucks were trained on power grinders. My knives would out last theirs 3 to one.
 
Nothing beats a bit of elbow grease and a few rocks when it comes to putting an edge on :p:thumbup:
