What's a good starter? Price isn't an issue, I'll consider any tomahawk that's considered a good starter.

Cold Steel has great hawks with decent quality for a good price. I also own a Kangee and like it a lot.

No sure what you want to use the hawk for but for off the shelf reasonably priced hawks these are good to go.

Any of the Cold Steel hawk line are solid hawks and can be made very functional and aesthetically pleasing with a little work.

The best bang for the buck for a high quality custom hawk is H&B forge for around $75

I have a 2 Hawks Longhunter tomahawk that I love. They are all hand made in Missouri and feature high carbon steel that is amazing. Price is $170.

CRKT Kangee is pretty good it has gotten good reviews on the tube & is reasonably priced.

I've got my eyes set on the Chogan T-Hawk myself:

I have that Kangee and love it. I keep mine strapped to the molle on my pack. Perfect size and weight . Be careful with it though as the top is also sharpened.
