I was thinking of getting another knife with an Axis Lock and was thinking of the Osbourne model from Benchmade. Anyone have any experience with it? Thanks.

Ive played with the red Osborne. it is a very elegant knife. i usually hate BM but i do like the red one

witch one there are a few . 940 , 943, 942,941, 670, 672 and so on. I think the 940 is the best.

I currently own the Benchmade 943 Osborne, Black coated and partially serrated. I love the knife and it's my EDC. I think it's very well built, and the AXIS mechanism is very smooth.

Why do you hate Benchmade?

the reason is not that they use cheap materials (i dont think D2 and S30V are cheap, or G-10 or Micarta is either), but the knives do feel cheap to me. the Rukus, not a small knife as you know, felt realy cheap to me when i held it and played with it. its to dang light for my taste, and to expensive.

the reason i like the Osborne is because it just feels perfect for the size to me.

now dont get me wrong, i dont think BM makes crappy knives. i know they dont. and i wont say they do. if the knife doesn't feel right to me when i hold it, im not going to like it. the only one that has fit the bill is the osborne.

hope that answers your question

The 940 Osbourne is one of my favorite Benchmades, and one of my all-time favorite knives. It is an elegant, well-engineered and made piece. The axis lock on both of the 940's I've owned is better than any of my other Benchmades (and I have a lot of them). It's glassy smooth and fast fast fast! Don't hesitate to jump on a 940, you'll LOOOOVVVE it. It combines one of the longest blades in the smallest overall package on the market. I like to think of it as an axis-locked straight razor. It's not intended for prying or super-heavy use, but for straight cutting and EDC use, it's very hard to beat. Fit and finish is among the highest of any of the recent Benchmades. It's fairly non-threatening, too- a handsome, elegant knife.

Which Osborne models are you guys talking about? I have a G-10 handled 770 with a D2 blade that I like. I have handled some of the 940, 941 etc. series and they feel good. I have been considering getting a 960. All are nice knives but they are very different in shape and size.

I have a 943SBT in S30v. Axis lock (enough said), it's a great edc, light, looks and handles great. Relatively sheeple friendly (if that is a concern)- Very smooth. Any of the 94x series knives would make a good choice. The scales are aluminum and will ding up after a while in the pocket, gives it a nice character :)

I've been talking about the 960. I do agree, very nice knife.

I've got a 960 in my pocket right now, and I really like it. It is very, very light yet solid. The D2 is great, I've had the knife for a while and have not had to touch up the edge, yet it is still hair poppin sharp. It is a little smaller 'in real life' than I had thought it would be, but it in no way has detracted from the functionality. I'd urge you to get one.
